past UN resolution: country statistics

Just days short of exactly one year ago, a resolution passed supposedly allowing countries to see a more detailed, specific report on their country, including the statistics that the automated UN system uses to classify each country. It's been a year and unless I am mistaken, this resolution, which passed by a landslide, has still not been implemented. Any plan of the admin backing up the UN on their resolutions? I know all of us (since there were 14,000 votes) would love to see these reports.

More Knowledge of Own Country
A resolution to increase democratic freedoms.

Category: The Furtherment of Democracy
Strength: Significant
Proposed by: Herozerax

Description: As ammusing as it is to read the same statements that are the description of our countries I feel that we should have more. There are obviously some sort of statistics somewhere with which the UN makes their reports. I see no reason why these statistics should not be known to the countries themselves. I say we should be allowed to view our countries' statistics so we can make more educated decisions in their development.

Not really. There was no rule in the early days about voting in Game Mechanics changes. There is one now. They aren't going to honor that request ... but a quick study of the last couple of pages of the Gameplay forum should lead you to some independantly developed tools that will help you. Go pay that forum a visit.

There are a number of nations that support elections at some level as required but not for major issues. For example, the Theocracy of Shirresh firmly believes in school board elections being for the communitity. Anothier nation has yearly votes for national tree.

When you have general resolutions that are poorly conceived, some of us will pervert them to our own ends so that our culture is not hurt by them.

Here's an idea how to handle this particular 'old' resolution:

RESOLUTION: Repeal of a Prior Resolution

The following Resolution is unsupportable and is hereby immediately revoked.

More Knowledge of Own Country
A resolution to increase democratic freedoms.
passed: Wed Feb 19 2003

or possibly, "Here's a way to the first strike on the way out of the UN".

Hey, that sounds a bit harsh. I certainly would have liked to repeal old resolutions when I first started as well.

Consider it an honor or show of a project done right that people want to take an active role in the NationStates UN before they go in and read or talk to an experienced player about where the limits for the game lies. Afterall, in most government roleplaying games you can repeal or amend old legislation.

Harshness withdrawn, it was an overreaction on my part and I apologise. I can see the argument in favour (always have done) and am looking forward to the day it gets itself coded myself.

You mean that legislating an older piece of legislation away isn't possible?

Has [violet] finally agreed to do it? I've been wanting it ever since Common Sense Act II....

This has been an OOC post.

How about:
Resolution: Repeal of a prior Resolution
The following resolution is unsupportable and is herby immediately revoked.
