War...what is it good for?

I propose to allow war with other nations. Declarations of war are all talk, and people need to know what they're really doing before they piss off the wrong people. And it would also be nice to be able to actually do something about people being "stupid"

I would refer you to the stickies at the top of this forum, but I imagine that would be like encouraging a cat to learn calculus. To that end, I'm going to leave the rest of my argumentation in the form of a sign.
::the delegate leaves, returning shortly with a large "game mechanics proposals are prohibited" sign. he hangs it up in front of the representative, then politely leaves::

(i have been informed that this topic is stickied already, but...) as i have noticed throughout the times within countries declaring war, it comes to my attention that war is only to prove more braun than brains within rulers, to attempt to show superiority and supremacy while exposing to the world who is the weaker target under multiple categories for the future, this is why war continues to exist whether its attempt for world domination or just an arguement to improve some kind of lagging relation between nations or what not. if it was upto me, i'd let the people of the lands have their say and have a final judgement of majority votes while listening to ALL thoughts at pretty much the same time.
rulers who want war at any time in history are just pretty much in seek of domination and just to stand out/attention seeker, they forget the smaller more important and more logic/common sense details and just aim for what they want and not what everyone wants, hence why corruption within the world never ceases to exist...

i have read the sticky, ok. Just because he won't do it, doesn't mean it can't be done. I know there has to be at least a few computer programmers who know how. If not, the UN could just do it verbally, like keeping score or whatever.

The complications involved with finding a freelance computer programmer who could a) learn the way the NationStates code works and b) figure out the kind of code he would have to write to fit within the interface and c) persuade Max et. al. to let that kind of thing happen and d) who would do it all for free are immense. Coding that kind of feature is a pretty heavy-duty undertaking, not something we can just wish for and have happen, even if there are a few programmers floating around.
A verbal/written scorekeeping system that is set up by member nations has a series of flaws inherent in it that already exist in the status quo. With no way to say definitively who "won" a battle or to authenticate that nation x really does have a million super tanks, there would always be godmoding, people accusing other people of godmoding, and people whining about godmoding just because they were losing to a better player. With all of these complaints being made on a daily basis by the thousands of nations at war, I doubt many mods or even independent nations are lining up to take on that responsibility.
I don't mean to discourage anyone, nor am I just picking on you. It's just that there happens to be a large number of hurdles between us and this goal, many of which are simply insurmountable. Unfortunately, organized war will have to wait.
Sincerely yours,
Daniel M. Hillaker
