So you're proposing that no UN nation, no matter what the case, attack another nation without UN approval? That's ridiculous! What about nations who are attacked and need to immediately return fire?

I would agree that no pre-emptive attack be made without UN approval, but your resolution failed to mention any sort of defensive strikes.

I would not vote for such a resoultion . . . as is.

I agree with Norexia. The proposal is stupid to the point of being dangerous.

Criminalization of Militarism

Category: Political Stability; A resolution to restrict political freedoms in the interest of law and order.
Strength: Strong

Proposed by: Goban

Description: In order to promote peaceful world relations and respect the sovereignty of independent nations, it is hereby resolved that no UN member nation may in any case wage war or coduct military actions of any kind outside its borders without UN approval. Said approval may be determined only by a population-weighted majority vote of all UN delegates, with the condition that said delegates be either directly elected by their represented populations or appointed by a directly elected representative of the same. Said vote must be conducted under any only under one of the three following conditions, and becomes valid when and only when nonmilitary measures are shown to be ineffective: 1) there exists a clear, direct, and ongoing military attack against any UN member nation, 2) it is shown that a majority of a nation's population desires their current conditions of government removed, and said population is directly prohibited from removing themselves politically or geographically from said conditions, or 3) any portion of a nations population is directly prohibited from leaving said nation or terminating citizenship of the same without a preexisting, legitimate criminal charge proportional to said restriction. Let it be noted that these measures prohibit several ongoing political and military tactics, including but not limited to preemptive strikes of any kind by a UN member nation and the prevention by a UN member nation of any nation from expanding its armed forces, conventional or otherwise. Any UN member nation in vilation of these terms is subject to established punitive measures, including but not limited to economic sanctions and loss of membership, and may be subject to further reprisal under these terms.
