Worst UN Resolutions

As above.

The poll may seem quite long, but I would have liked to have added even more. I think that goes to show that the UN has passed a lot of bad resolutions.

What do people think of the UN resolutions as a whole?

Replanting Trees.

This proposal makes expansion of cities to accommodate burgeoning population virtually impossible in nations covered by forest.

Prostitution. Alright, I really don't care at all how people spend their money, or how they earn it. What concerns me is the health factor. Prostitutes carry diseases, and since it's been legalized the spreading of STD's can only get worse.

Or

Hydrogen Powered Vehicles
A resolution to increase the quality of the world's environment, at the expense of industry.

Category: Environmental Industry Affected: Automobile Manufacturing Proposed by: Kibombwe
Description: We, the people of Kibombwe, propose that every nation should start developing hydrogen powered cars. We have polluted the air for too long -- it needs to stop. By passing this resolution we will be able to accompish these three things. 1. Less acid rain. Acid rain a problem that we feel should be stopped. It is especially a problem in the Northeast corner of the U.S.A. The Northeast is a place rich in historical buildings which acid rain damages. We passed a "PROTECT HISTORICAL SITES." This would only furthermore protect historical sites. 2. We wouldn't have to use as much oil. Oil is a nonrenewable resource that we only have so much of. By passing this resolution we would only prolong the time that we have oil on earth. 3. We would have cleaner air. Does anyone remember the days when "fresh air" was actually fresh? When it was a pure thing, without chemicals and other junk mixing in the air. With cleaner air, everyone would live longer, happier lives. I hope that anyone and everyone who reads this agrees with us. PLEASE MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE!!!

I didn't think this one was too bad, It makes RL sense.

I say "Passport Harmonisation" was the worst ever, as it doesn't do anything, as I pointed out in multiple discussions.

Well there's a couple things you have to define, most useless proposal? Dumbest? Most damaging?

In my view, that makes it one of the best resolutions!

How about the rule against dumping? It requires nations to start a minimum of 3 non-profit, donation-only "cleaning" organizations per city. How can you force donation-only organizations to exist?

The worst US Resolution is being drafted as we speak. A fellow.er....nationstates addict who has been at the game longer than I is busy drafting a proposal to BAN all right wing nations from it's ranks. no, this isn't propoganda, he really wishes to bar any nation that is shown as a corporate police state, or a corrupt dictatorship due to civil rights violations. Now, anyone may hate the viewpoint of a right-leaning nation, but to ban them from the UN is rather extreme.

Without doubt because of its massive loopholes and poor construction and lack of thought in the process.

um, hang on. That kind of resolution would eliminate quite a number of delegates lol. And some regions only have right wing nations, so it would block them from UN interaction altogether.

Go resolution!!

I believe that will fall under 'game mechanics' and get tossed for that reason. Edonia has the offical word but it soubds like 'game machanics' to me

Based on that description, it certainly sounds like it. That said, I'll need to have a look at it when/if it actually gets proposed to be sure.

I'd have to say that from a mod perspective, "Resolution 245A Proper Grammar" would be the worst ever passed. The number of times I need to explain that this resolution doesn't preclude poorly-spelled and badly-written resolutions from being voted on is mind-boggling. Add in the fact that it keeps getting cited by people as a case of "a game mechanics resolution that was allowed through", conveniently forgetting that mods weren't even around at the time, and you have a headache made in heaven.

I'd have to say it's "MANDATORY RECYCLING". Not only is the name in all caps, but how is any nation going to find every last scrap of paper, glass, and aluminum to recycle?

Hi, I'm John Marat, let's take a deep cleansing breath, and we'll interface, okay?

Okay ^_^ Now we at Albion feel that if a resolution does something to annoy, distress or harm the nation of Raging Lunatics, then the chances are, its a good one! But our personal favourite is the resolution on Labour Unions because frankly, it leaves many nations like yours, good and stuffed! Okay? Okay. It's been real okay?

Okay I'm going to the UN bar to do some yoga and offer emotional advice. You've been great, I've been John Marat, thanks for listening. ^_^

The Citizen Rule resolution clearly violates game mechanics, therefore making it the worst.

I was not looking into specific areas. I was looking for an overall answer, to the question, based on all the different criteria that could be used.

I voted for the Gay Rights Resolution for a couple of reasons. Firstly I have enormous personal distaste for it. Secondly the resolution contained the most gross violation of national sovereignty that has been passed by the UN. I know many other resolutions have breached national sovereignty, but the argument could be made that the most basic of human rights was being protected by those resolutions. That argument cannot be made at all for the Gay Rights Resolution.

Why? I would say that is one of the best UN resolutions ever passed. It protects law-abiding people from idiots and makes people more responsible for their own actions. I cannot see how these are bad things.

I do not recall asking for what was your favourite Albion, but what you thought the worst was

The resolution on Labour unions does not harm or stuff us because we do not enforce it. Besides Albion we are not anti union anyway. It should be noted that the party is called Raging Lunatic's White Workers Party
