Googlewoop Resigns in Protest- I WANT AN ANSWER MODS!

As most of you know a few days ago, in line with the strong belief of many nations that the United Nations had become a corrupt, sexually oriented, undemocratic morass only concerned with meddling with the internal affairs of member nations, I posted a proposal stating that the UN could only try to effect the laws of a member nation which effected other nations or had ‘direct global effect.

I threatened that this was my last attempt to civilize the UN and if it was unsuccessful, I would resign. Worse than not being passed, my proposal was deleted by the MODs. I received a lovely telegram stating that I should mind my own business (nice choice of words for a game moderator especially since this is the UN) and that I should not attempt to UNDERMINE the games structure. Of course, the coward was hiding behind his ‘The Game Moderators’ telegram address so I couldn’t even insult the authoritarian twit back.

MAY I REMIND THE MODs, that many of the first resolutions passes by the early members of the NS community (many of whom are now moderators themselves) were based on the same principles that mine was. BUT THEY WENT EVEN FURTHER! Aside from the multitude of proposals governing what a resolution could contain, I found one (entitled ‘Expedition of Resolution Votes’) that was actually passed (apparently the MODs think very highly of their OWN work) that didn’t just change the writing of a resolution, but the ACTUAL GAME MECHANICS THEMSELVES. Apparently we now have shorter resolution voting times because of a resolution.

NOW I DEMAND A RESPONSE FROM THE COWARDLY UPSTARTS WHO THINK IT FIT FOR THEM SELVES TO RULE THE NS WORLD!

I realise that most MODs do their job correctly and help make the NS community better but as for the few dictators flaunting their power, I suggest Max Barry, or whoever is in charge now rethinks their decision to convey extra power upon such simple selfish minds.

SO AS FROM NOW, as most of you will have guessed, I have resigned from the UN. The note I just received reads;

“You tell the United Nations that you are sick of participating in their corrupt and hollow debate. From now on, your nation is on its own.”

I know that this statement as well as the rest of NS is supposed to be in good humour, but as far as I’m concerned, this statement says EXACTLY what is on the minds of many of us at the moment.

Farewell colleagues.

AFTER NOTE: Soon I wish to create a region, the forum of which will be used as a system to replace the UN for any nations sick of it as I am. Anyone interested telegram me and keep an eye on the forums for news.

Of course, the best way to get a reasonable response from the mods is to shout at them and accuse them of cowardice. Not to mention posting in the wrong forum for moderation complaints.

If you're looking for a sympathetic ear, Googlewoop, this isn't helping your cause.

Now call me close-minded, but the minute I read the above sentence, I got a headache. Of course, my solution was simple: (1) one glass of milk, (2) two cookiees, and (3) a nation to put in my ignore list ... not that I'd be expecting a telegram, but geez I know one day the Mods are gonna bounce something I submit (in fact, I'm expecting them to do so with my current proposals), but guess what? I'll work with everybody to find some way to do what I want to do. It may take longer, but damn will it feel so much better than crying about it.

BTW: I have more Spice Melange cookiees to anybody wanting them. And let me say, Melange does wonderful things to your memory, reflexes, and eye-balls.

Ok, I was a little hot headed and your both right.

Perhaps Frisbeetera cam across a little strong and insulting but I see your point.

As for Mikitivy, I would absolutely LOVE to find out why they bounced me. Especially when I have records of them abusing the same principle to a worse extent. That was my basic message although I probably hid it under a litlle TOO much anger.

So this is for the moderators, please explain the reasoning behind your decision to bounce my seemingly harmless proposal.

A resolution to increase democratic freedoms.
Category: The Furtherment of Democracy
Strength: Significant
Proposed by: Thinkers
I haven't been here that long, so I had no idea that ex-nation Thinkers was a mod nation. I have been here long enough to know that because of the increasing size of the game, moderators were added sometime in the spring of 2003, and that the rules for proposals didn't fully codify until probably summer. Enodia's definitive post, Before you make a proposal... (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=77286), is actually dated Fri Oct 03, 2003. There was no Game Mechanics rule in the early days.

It's clear to me that the rules needed to change, and further, that they are still evolving to reflect current needs. Whomever Thinkers was, they acted long before there WERE such rules. As that seems to be a big portion of your complaint, you might want to rephrase.

* As for being insulting, I was attempting to be tongue-in-cheek sarcastic. As I also have a pathologicial hatred of emoticons, my true emotional state doesn't always translate well.

In which case we appoligise for demanding you to oppoligise for insulting us about insulting.

Terribly sorry for any offense taken.

Point well taken.

Given that a thread on this matter exists, and has been answered by yours truly in, the Moderation forum, this thread will be locked forthwith.

A clarification on the statements made by Frisbeeteria:
1. Thinkers was not a mod nation - unless the player in question did a very good job of keeping his old identity under wraps on being appointed to mod-hood. In fact, I'm reasonably certain that no mods or former mods have ever had UN resolutions passed by their own or puppet nations. Someone (possibly Tactical Grace) had one come close to quorum at around the time he was modded, but that's the best we've got to show for it.

2. The dating of my sticky is a little less helpful than you might think in determining the first appearance of proposal warnings. I'd previously done proposal list sweeps in a much more peacemeal manner (having started doing so in about Aug/Sept) and the thread exists more as a one-stop shop to prevent people from filling the forum with "Why was my proposal deleted?" threads as well as a "Codification of the Rules" thread rather than as the first ever appearance of either event.
