UN Delegates....

11-02-2004, 13:18
I am to the Nation States Site, but I was interested in becoming a part of the UN. Now that that is over with, how do I become a UN Delegate of my area? Thank you to anyone who answers.

Hello, my name is John Marat and I will be happy to answer that question.

In order to be a UN delegate one must first join the UN. Upon joining the UN one must then secure endorsements. These are votes from other UN members in your region.

Securing votes is a fine art and can be achived by politely asking, through trading endorsements, by being or becoming popular, or by showing leadership qualities at both regional and forum level.

I now hand you a 'I Love The UN' ballon and party hat.

Thanks you.

Be sure to read the FAQ! This question is answered therein.

In order to become regional delegate, you have to have the most number of endorsements by countries in your region. I think you need a minimum of 2 to become delegate (but I could be wrong, maybe only 1 is enough).

Other nations can endorse you by going into your nation's profile and clicking on 'endorse this nation'.

Well the ability to "endorse" proposals and have additional votes on UN resolutions might seem appealling, if you are new, let me suggest a different approach.

Join a large and active regional bloc, any will do, and participate for a month or more. You'll get a feel for what it takes to be a good UN Delegate by watching experienced people do it.

But don't make the mistake to think that just because you are *not* a UN Delegate that you don't have "power" and "influence". You do if you are in a region with an experienced UN Delegate. Not only will your Delegate listen to you, but in larger regional groups, your delegate will speak with the voice of 1,000s instead of the voice of 10s that most UN Delegates seem to carry.

In the end it is the vote on resolutions that will result in laws being changed in your nation.

Anyway, look around at the UN members on this forum you like and seriously consider joining their region for a while. The NationStates helicopters will fly your country, right down to the very last sand worm, there immediately. FREE OF CHARGE! ;)
