Religious Expression Proposal

09-02-2004, 22:29
If all regional delegates could check out the Religious Expression proposal, I would be greatly appreciative. If you agree with it, please approve it so that it can go to the UN members for a vote.

God bless

PS Please contact me if you have any questions.

Perhaps you could cut and paste the body of the proposal to this forum so we can debate it without having to go back and forth between the forum and the United Nations proposal queue.

Again, this seems more like an individual nation's issue, rather than an international issue. Some nations have religion outlawed altogether, while others only have one state-sanctioned religion, so this resolution would be ineffectual upon those nations.

I urge delegates to not vote for this proposal in its currently stated form.

Thank you.

Actually, these nations are already in violation of a resolution already on the books which guarantees religious freedom. At least this resolution only effects an area of policy in which sovereignty has already been stamped out by the UN.

As ruler of a pleasant land I agree that religious freedom/beliefs should be encouraged, for too long has the 'Church' had complete control over people who worship. I believe that a complete take over of all religious places, practices, shops and functions 'etc should be undertaken by the Flemish community so that we can also 'turn a buck', take away the money and the power and all you have left is a lot of old men in dresses, singing. With the profits of this new venture we can improve the lives of our many needy subjects and at the same time top up our swiss bank accounts, All those in favour say 'Ay' 8)

Well slap me on the tushy and call me Judy!

However, I think the proposal may need to be more specific in defining "religious" garments and activities. For example, under the current proposal, there may be a religion which claims nudity as its religious dress of choice. Or if there isn't, there soon will be if this resolution passes. Likewise with sacrificing virgins on school property, etc.

I realize this proposal has not reached resolution status as yet and is only campaigning for delegate support, but it would be wise if delegates were to think this proposal through to all its ends.
