IRC Chat for UN Members!

Goobergunchia

I've created an IRC channel for UN activities, seeing as there already is one for RP and General.

Access Information:

Download an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) program. mIRC is the program that most of us use, but there are many others (such as XChat or irssi). A Google search for IRC programs should yield positive results for your particular system.

Connect to the server irc.esper.net

Join the channel #unitednations

For more information on connecting to IRC, see the Nationstates IRC chat (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=278619) sticky in the NationStates forum.

The topic on the channel will mention whatever the current resolution at vote is. If it doesn't, bug an op until they change it.

What if there is no resolution at vote?

Why dont we all just try idling in it? IRC is a very slow chat, ppl say things sometimes 30 minutes inbetween eachother, it really is best when you idle in a chat room

* The Rep of Komokom grrr's when his operator power seems to have dissolved itself.

On an more important note, it may be interesting to consider getting a reasonable few operators together, who-ever they may be, and running a telegram campaign, first to current delegates, to try an stir up some interest in this channel, heck knows, in my time there, its just been me and the passing bots.

* The Rep of Komokom grrr's bots that move too fast to be kicked.

And the good lady Des, of course.

Incidentally, I would highly recommend that people register their nicknames by typing "/nickserv register PASSWORD E-MAIL[optional]", then typing when they log in "/nickserv identify PASSWORD" (or setting up a script to do the same). This allows me to add people as ops for when I'm not on.

I'd like to chat but can seldom get the rest of the mob off the family computer. So it's not lack of interest and I'm with you in spirit (make mine a Guiness).

That said, any one know some where I could go while online to access an mIRC interface with-out mIRC on the terminal I'm using ? Stupid college computers ... ;)

You could use a java applet, the pacific has one here (http://freewebs.com/pacificchat), and if you type /join #unitednations and all that jazz once you connect, you should be fine.

Yes, this is a shameless promotion for the Pacific Chatroom 8-)

C'mon, guys. Nationstates and the UN both do not need a special chat room just for members to talk to each other. You know, it's not like nationstates is a private game, either. I say that, if any 2,3, or however many people want to talk, then just do it on AIM, through e-mail, or something like that. A lot of people have AIM, but, as far as I know, not so many have your special chat download. Look, y'all, if you wanna talk, don't do it secretively, just do it on something that everybody knows and something that everybody can have access to. C'mon, homies, just listen to what I'm sayin'! It'll make online talking a lot easier.

Click on the "Add Your Endorsement" link on Islamigood's nation page (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=islamigood).

AIM is a proprietary chat client. IRC is a protocol and there are several different clients you can use to access it. Furthermore, IRC has many advantages to AIM in terms of chatroom control.

The best region out there, with a population that takes everyone on. Besides, why would you want to live somewhere, when you could live in your own world, nowhere. It is right by somewhere, next to I don't know, and in the middle of north and south.

So move to Nowheres pacific and endorse Testicularfortitude for UN delegate!

....and what does this have to do with IRC? If you want to discuss the UN, do it in the channel, not in this thread. This thread is for discussing the channel itself and helping people with connection problems.

This has been an OOC post.

Truly a very quiet chatroom... Maybe if people came up with times they would be most interested to chat? Or more available? *shrugs* well I'll keep it open see if the only other in the room checks on it soon.

But I truly like the idea :)
