I raise a point of order against this proposal on the grounds of game mechanics.

I raise a point of order against this proposal on the grounds of game mechanics.
I'll call you on that point, and raise you 2 points of going against the spirit and intent of the game designers.

The Rogue Nation of Greenspoint would like to point out that the individual member nations already have "the choice of whether or not to enact passed UN resolutions within" their territories. It is the RESIGN button on the United Nations page.

We refuse to follow resolution outside the UN mandate. Take the recent "legalise Prostitution" Bill. It meddles with internal affairs.
I am pleased to see that the current resolution is both within the UN mandate, and legal.
This weekend I will be posting a resolution to stop proposals from both breaking the UN mandate of only affecting External affairs and from being rediculously stupid or explicit.
And to Mr Greenspot:
While your observations are correct. However, given the current state of some of the resolutions being churned out without regard from the UN I believe Nations should have a chance to protest and attempt to fix the problem BEFORE they leave the UN altogether.
Illaria calls on frisbeeteria's 3 points and raises 2 more points of encouraging carelessness among UN member nations while being directly against things listed specifically on the website itself.
Looks like we all have good hands... crap :P

The pot's at five points ... anyone else got a hand to play, or are we waiting for Goober to call?
The Theocracy of Eusebius calls Illaria's 5 points and raises another 5 points of Panhandlia making a complete fool of himself with the ridiculous poll question. Honestly...

Frisbeetria already has a proposal that is *starting* in the right direction. It can be found using the keyword "Duties". I urge you to campaign for their proposal so it can become a resolution. Let's take this problem one baby step at a time.
Second, nations like ours that are concerned about the current trend in UN resolutions (which ironically most of which fit well into Mikitivity law, social justice is extremely important in our cities), need to also take a more active role in just rewritten mandate wrought language with recommendation based language.
For example, if I were asked to rewrite the prostitution resolution I would have done it as follows:
The United Nations,
AWARE that there are men, women, and children who get by in desperate times by selling their bodies in order to pay their bills and feed their children,
DEFINING this act as prostitution,
NOTING WITH REGRET that the acts of prostitution are not limited to any one type of society or nation, but are evidenced in many nations,
CONCERNED that efforts taken to address this activity have met with mixed results,
BEARING IN MIND that the act of criminalizing this activity frequently results in law enforcement spending time pursuing these individuals, instead of dealing with other crimes,
REGRETTING that in response prostitutes are less likely to seek medical attention,
1. CALLS UPON individual nations to legalize this activity;
2. ENCOURAGES nations to implement ways to get medical attention to prostitutes;
3. AUTHORIZES the creation of a UN Committee on Human Rights to compile a report on the problem;
etc.
OK, that isn't a much better resolution, however, my point is not to show this assembly what I can draft in a matter of minutes on an empty tummy and sleepy head. Instead my point is to IMPLORE any nation hoping to improve human rights, to do so in a way that is much more likely to help the citizens you wish to protect.
Pitting a nation against its people isn't going to work. Educating other nations and leading by example will.
I think if we want to see meaningful debates (which we have, but their burried in sovereignty issues), that we need to accept the fact that each of us only has the right to SUGGEST what our neighbors should be doing when their problem does not cross our border. Furthermore, perhaps it is time that our United Nations consider appointing some individuals to act as clearing houses / information gathers and distributors on problems that we feel are common to many of our nations. Perhaps we can help each other through information and not legislation?

10 minutes ago: The proposal "UN Powers" was removed from the floor.
Took awhile, but Enodia's been busy IRL. Maybe now the constant influx of game mechanics proposals will slow for a few precious seconds....
Nah, I don't think so either.
