A proposal to ban Factory Farming.

05-02-2004, 05:38
There are far too many Factory Farms taking over communities in our nations. These greedy corporations pack animals as closely together as possible - most never see sunlight, fresh air, touch ground, and many can't even turn around. Not only is this unhealthy for the animals, it's cruel, and it's unsanitary. As a result of the confined space animals are fighting and this in turn causes these greedy corporations to do such cruel things as debeak and remove tails from the animals.

Also, being so close to eachother causes the spread of disease and sickness among the creatures. Due to this they are given a daily dose of antibiotics just to keep them alive. These constant doses cause over use and is breeding superstrains of resistant disease causing germs. Everyday we get closer to an epidemic that can't be stopped.

This isn't just about the animals. These factory farms cause major pollution, mistreat employees (they have the highest injury rating out of all employers for their employees), but they also cause many *people* to get sick in the communities they are in. Their pollution is *that* bad.

Over 2 million small family/independent farms have been ousted by factory farms. These independent/family farms are much more humane to animals, extremely more sanitary, and cause much less pollution.

I propose that the countries that construct the UN put a stop to these Factory Farms. Let's ban Factory Farming all together, and force them out of our community. It's much healthier for our community, our animals, our world environment, and our PEOPLE!
Sophista

If the nation of Jiona is truly in that poor a condition, perhaps the concerned parties would be willing to emigrate to the lush nation of Sophista? We know nothing of your problems here. In fact, our agricultural industry is quite notable for its organic approaches and lack of "factory farms."

With that in mind, the nation of Sophista will not endorse your proposal. This is just another example of one country having a problem and figuring the best way to solve it is to have the entire world ban it. We will not sit by and allow another violation of national sovereignty pass through these halls.

If you need the number of a superb organic supply company, please petition our Minister of Agriculture.

Sincerely yours,
Daniel M. Hillaker
Minister of Foreign Affairs
