sodomy laws

I have stuck a proposal in, go and read it, then get your delegate to endorse it.

Sodomy is not the cause of evil, and there are many cultures in the world that totally accept it. Banning Sodomy make it illegal and puts people in a position to be arrested and jailed for something sexual.

Very simple law that shall state:
Countries shall repeal their sodomy laws.
No Laws concerning Sodomy shall be created.
No Laws limiting the use of condoms shall be created.

This is some seriously funny stuff.

wrong forum.

I think it was posted here for a reason, i.e the proposal is up in UN, but since everyone cannot post there (or vote on proposals) McLaughland posted a memo here just so everyone can have a look & then discuss it with their Regional UN rep, who will then be able to vote yay or nay on behalf of those who can't.

Don't take my word for it though, I have on (very rare) occasion been wrong

Wrong Forum. We have a "United Nations" forum for a reason.

... And now here it is.

*Illarian Representative stands*
*ahem* Illaria would like to be the first to state (for this round): no
Illaria will stand by its previous holdings in UN policy beliefs and hold that the UN cannot rule one way or another on an issue as intrinsically cultural as sodomy.

To invade people's private lives and their rights to do what they want with their bodies is not government's duty.
By that same token, though, it is not the UN's duty to tell the nations that they MUST allow sodomy. The triviality of the point is ridiculous. At least with prostitution, there was the economic/career side to things. Here, there is no value to the proposal.

Therefore, Illaria moves that this proposal be ignored and allowed to die on the grounds of it being beyond UN scope.

The Central Committe of the WL Party (Left Communist Faction) struggles to determine why you thought this was of particular importance. We agree that what people do in the bedroom is none of the state business as long as it is all consesual. Therefore to us, the proposal is uncontroversial, in of itself.

In short, we have no sodomy laws, never have, never will. We concern ourselves with higher affairs.

However, we are becoming increasingly aware that UN may well become a laughing stock should this trend of resolutions concerning the nether regions continue unabated. We also refer the nation to a resolution entitled 'sexual freedom' which was passed approximately a year ago. If the resolution has been overturned then we suggest that our honourable friends write a new one, after wich, maybe we could concern ourselves with resolutions that don't involve gentilalia.

Actually according to thisd you can't make Sodomy legal:
"No Laws concerning Sodomy shall be created. "

Well if there are no laws then it can't be made legal

Conversely, you couldn't make it illegal either.

No Laws concerning Sodomy shall be created.

How is our Empire supposed to conform to the earlier UN resolution banning pedophilia, if it can't create laws to ban persons from sodomizing minors?

Gay mariage and sodomy do not go hand in hand:
Sodomy is hetero- or homo- through the butt.
Its not against gay but all those who do so.

Lesbians to my knowledge cannot have sex so ergo they cannot be married. Sorry no consumating is possible, so no marriage takes place.

Only Gay men can be married, since they can have sex...though only through Sodomy I guess...

This proposal infringes heavily on the rights of the individual states to manage their own affairs. Although I support the concept, I cannot support yet another intrusive (and to some states, offensive) proposal.

You define sex as having as entering the other participant with your phallus? A bit masculine view on intercourse :D Lesbian couples can surely have sex. Search the internet, you find some details for sure :)
(And you state that 'sodomy' is the anal exploration of the partner, however, that word is actually obsolete in medical literature. It means nowadays only 'sex with animals').

I read that you think that only couples who can have intercourse, should marry. What about people who lost their phallus? May they not marry? Is marriage only about sex?

(And no, I don't think that you marry so you can have kids: you marry because you love eachother.)

Yes but it is legally made that yu must have sex while married at least once or not final.
Divorce court showed this.

Blanket statement. Depends on your country, customs, and laws.

To be honest, this is a pretty stupid proposal.
For instance, if a country has a Jewish government and a Jewish-dominated society (just as an example), they may wish to ban the use of condoms as their religion prevents it. Just in the same way some governments bad abortion or organ donation on religious grounds.

Beside that, it's not like sodomy is a major issue. As long as it's commited between two consenting, legal-aged people in the privicy of the bedroom (or other chosen room), who's there to stop them?

Catholic Europe does not support this proposal simply because of the fact that we not only lose our right to govern ourselves (through the stopping of law on sodomy) but also the fact that we will be forced to make condoms legal.
