The UN ambassador for the Empire of Benicius calls upon all regional delegates to support the following proposal to the UN:
While protection against foreign imports retains jobs in the short term, long term government assistence fosters a complacent business atmosphere which eventually results in complete reliance on taxpayer support.
It is the aim of this motion to abolish trade protection of any form. We call that:
1. UN nations abolish all protection of industries within 5 years.
2. That partial government sponsorship of industries be counted as protection, with the exclusion of State Owned Enterprises (100% ownership).
3. That governments commit to employment retraining programs to counter the abolition of protection.
4. That violation of these new anti-protection laws be handled with economic sanctions rather than sheer military force.
