May I humbly submit my current proposal entitled 'Linguistic Diversity' for your comment.
It reads as follows:
-----------------------------------
Category: Human Rights Strength: Significant Proposed by: Gemfish
Description: In the mass usage of particular languages in a globalised society, minority languages are prone to die out, whereby a vital aspect of the culture and identity of the people is irrevocably lost.
This bill carries the following recommendations:
1. The United Nations promotes diverse language use.
2. An interpreting service to be provided for United Nations correspondence with member nations in their native language/s. The United Nations and the nation requiring the service will jointly fund this
3. An appropriate percentage of each nation's budget to be directed to the preservation and stimulation of endangered languages.
4. Where a nation possesses indigenous language/s including those spoken by a minority group, opportunity is to be provided for these to be taught in appropriate educational institutions.
A language tells a thousand words.
--------------------------------------
This is a vital issue, pertinent in particular to many indiginous and otherwise marginalised groups in society. I ask all delegates to consider endorsing it.
Thank you
