Clean Air Act of 2004

27-01-2004, 21:45
The following is a proposal to help save Mother Earth. Please review the entire proposal, and post any comments or suggestions. Don't have any? Then please send you regional UN delegate to show support for this great world.

**Tired of seeing thick black smog outside your bedroom window? Sick of coughing, sneezing, and choking in each breath of air? Did you know that asthma, lung cancer, and bronchitis can all be traced back to pollution? Our industries, chiefly automotive, are polluting Mother Earth and making it harder to breath each day. This is a proposal to help stop pollution in our environment so we can enjoy it for years to come.

This law would force all automotive industries to install scrubbers at their factories to help remove carcinogens and particles from being released into the atmosphere. Also, this law would entail catalytic converters to be installed on all automobiles, if not already being done so.

These laws could be implemented with little money spent by local governments. It is our duty as members of the UN to help save our world for our children.**

Right it is two specific and is written like an advert instead of a proposal.

The resolution should be committing governments to reduce emissions by a percentage, decided on the basis of scientific research, by a certain date. The methods employed are the preserve of government legislation. This allows governments to tailor their environmental solution to the needs of their particular nation and the businesses within that nation.

There is no valid reason for government to dictate how private buildings are constructed.

The Confederacy of Caligatio agrees fully with the nation of Ithuania. The government indeed has no right to make laws regarding private businesses and to do so would not only be an infringment on their personal rights, but also an infringement on private property.

The U.N. should stay out of private affairs which are handled differently by each sovereign nation and should deal more with international affairs and ideas that are actually of use.

No freedom is absolute. Remember that.

The Fedearation of Capuluan is well known for its environmental concerns and the sovereign will fully agree the Clean Air Act. Because I belive this proposal is for the future of the Capluan and our children.

Currently, the government is researching so-called water-powered engine.

Yes there is - SAFETY that is why we have building regulations. So that "private buildings" don't fall down and crush "the public".

Catholic Europe supports any resolution which seeks to improve the enviroment of the world in which we live.

That's great! So employers and builders can cut costs by putting up buildings that are made of sub-standard materials and improperly designed!

Who cares if they fall down as the first opportunity and kill everyone inside as long as someone somewhere saved enough money putting it up to buy a new speedboat!

Could you be more obtuse?

Vote now and you'll receive a free set of steak knives!

Or not. Our industry already has such simple protective measures in place. There's no reason to not. Rather than wasting the UN's time with such pointless piffle, why don't you go and think of something witty and submit it as a proposal.

This isn't a waste of time. It's a very important proposal. The enviroment of this world is perhaps one the most serious issues of today. If we do not act now, as this proposal would ahve us do, then the world will be ruined and civilisation will end - everything will end.

Catholic Europe, I totally agree (as do most the the scientific researchers in this field) that we need to have a global solution to the environmental problems. A recent projection shows that by 2050, 50 million people could be made homeless by a rise in sea level cause by polar ice cap shrinkage. 50 million people!!!

However I shall repeat what I said before about this specific proposal:

"it is too specific and is written like an advert instead of a proposal.

Also it is not an Act it is a Resolution, can we please get the nomenclature right!

We support the spirit of this proposal; however, as the esteemed delegate from Jumbo Sausage n Chips has pointed out, it needs appropriate wording.

Actually, we would like to see more aggressive action taken but recognise that the necessary measures are unlikely to be accepted in the UN.

Gigglealia - congratulations on your already extensive environmental protection. However, your scorn for this discussion (on the grounds that it is 'pointless piffle') makes little sense when read alongside your passionate arguments against the current proposal before the UN. Why so serious there and not here?

Mataradesh will not support this proposal if it is not extended to include information on how money will be supplied to fulfill its terms and enforce it. After a better version is posted, we will consider supporting the proposal.
