Advanced AI Equality proposal

We, the Democratic States of Evoche, in the egalitarian traditions of freedom and democracy for all sentient creatures hereby announce a proposal to the U.N community for review. The subject, while new, remains to be insufficiently addressed and we feel that unless it is in fact addressed all will experience much turmoil.

We propose that Advanced Artificial Intelligence (1) be fully respected and objects that have the demonstrable capacity for sentience be treated fairly and within the same laws of a nation’s citizens. The nation of Evoche feels that unless we open our arms to our newly created brothers and sisters as if they were our own flesh, we will be setting a dangerous precedent for bloodshed, violence, and the passing to our children the potential for a catastrophe.(2)

Since many nations have developed, or are developing the capacity for a machine to think and feel like a human being, we feel that we must make equal and humane treatment of such machines the standard in the U.N.

We propose the following:

1)All nations grant equal rights to machines as their own citizens.
2)The due process of all sentient machines in regards to criminal justice.
3)Prohibition of an owner’s right to destroy sentient property.

We also propose that AAI proposal be in full accordance with any future laws regarding the regulation of sentient machines, to protect the interests of both parties.

Suggestions and amendments to the proposal are highly encouraged, to provide a well-rounded stance that benefits all parties in this issue.

Notes:
1: Advanced AI is defined as AI that allows the machine in question a high degree of self awareness, otherwise known as sentience. This includes pre-programmed sentience and self-achieved sentience.
2: Prof. Mikol Darensen has done thorough analysis of the situation and has stated that Unless… sentient machines and humans can learn to co-exist in the future, we will be damning ourselves and our future generations to a life of intolerable hatred and violence never seen in human history – Mikol Darensen The Gateway Paradox

OOC Note: I forgot to add that this is a "Test Proposal", I just wanted to see what people thought of it due to the fact I have never submitted a proposal before.
