Opposition to UN-Dictated Copywrite Laws

While the Lone Star Republic greatly desires to protect the intellectual property of creative citizens of all nations, we cannot permit our sovereign right to both represent, defend, or punish copywrite infringements.

As our neighbor nations have verbalized, a comprehensive international trade law sounds good in theory, but is too far off to be efficient and fair. How, for instance, can we rationalize the inadvertant promotion of expensive, patentable medicines over cheaper, generic medicines which will benefit poorer countries? Additionally, who do you think would win a copyright suit: a poor farmer inventor of a developing nation, or a high-dollar multinational corporation with a fleet of lawyers? Who's to say we can guarantee fair application?

The Lone Star Republic would like to recommend, instead, local enforcement of copywrite infringements. Instead of controlling everything from the top, why not simply create a UN court for handling copywrite suits between member nations? We will then handle suits as the US federal government does: apply local laws of the prosecution to the defense.

I think its about time the sensible nations form a more reasonable and responsible UN and leave this pathetic swirl of ineptitude to the weak, irresponsible morons that have polluted it down to their level.
