Approval of the 'Ape Army Proposal' ; why approve it?

Cymru Newydd

My region has proposed the creation of an Ape Army. This means that apes will be able to serve in the armed forces, as long as the work does not place them in greater danger than their human counterparts so that apes will not end up with the dirty jobs. This will boost the man(ape)-power nation's armed forces.

More importantly, apes must be given command of the forces. This would eradicate offensive action by making planning impossible. As you will see, I have made it possible to appoint human commanders when defensive action is needed.

So this proposal makes the world a safer, more peaceful place. That is something that we all want. Give an approval for world peace.

Ummm...no

The Proposal...

Ape Army
A resolution to improve world security by boosting police and military budgets.

Category: International Security Strength: Significant Proposed by: Cymru Newydd
Description: Our region puts forward a proposal allowing apes to participate in military activity. Nations who feel that their defence forces use too much human resource better used for other matters can enlist apes to supplement their defences.

Bearing animal cruelty in mind, apes will not be involved in dangerous operations, since they have no capacity to decline an order or volunteer. They will be involved in intelligence gathering and combat situations that do not place them in too much danger.

Nations will also have to appoint apes as military chiefs, making the planning of military operations impossible and eradicating offensive war. Bearing in mind the precarious nature of defence, given these measures, a nation can appoint human commanders during a defensive war.

This measure will make military service fun and make the world a mostly peaceful place. (Foreign Secretary)

Yes, a novel way to reduce war and conserve endangered species, most ingenious. Will there be a crack chimps tea party brigade?

The Rogue Nation of Greenspoint does not support and will not vote for this proposal.

If apes were allowed to join the military, where will it stop? Eventually apes will be working as servants in every household, their human masters will begin to take them for granted and in the process will get weaker, as apes will now be doing all the menial, drudgework too. Then a spaceship will come from the future with time travelling intelligent apes who will eventually be killed by paranoid government agents but whose son will survive and become a modern day messiah to the apes, leading them in a bloody revolution that will turn those humans that survive into a subservient enslaved race.

Emperor Matthuis and Golden Simatar; with all due respect, I fail to understand your hostility, The proposal may appear quite silly but that is the reason for approving it. The proposal means to curtail the harm done by armed forces and nations fighting each other.

If nations were unable to persecute an offensive war in an unrestricted manner, wouldn't they try to find some other solution to their international grievances?

Greenspoint; to clarify, this proposal is not intending to enslave apes. As I have stated, it is to make military life a bit more fun and promote world harmony.

It's a terrible idea. I oppose it. When will someone make a decent proposal?

Um... mightn't the animals be intrigued by large red buttons, thus disproving your point about making the world safer?
24-01-2004, 19:30
I don't believe we would put the apes in a position where they will be able to press any big red buttons. The apes will be mainly there to make war ineffectual and for intelligence missions, I believe! And we won't be enslaving apes or running the risk of them taking us over. We use machines and as yet neither a "Matrix" scenario nor a "Terminator" scenario have occurred.

Still no, because of these reasons

1 Bit to unrealistic, i mean how are you going to get apes to fight?

2 Cause i've seen it before

3 Way too random

Do a decent proposal :)

Emperor Matthuis, with all due respect, I think you fail to see the point.

1 It's not about getting apes to fight
2 Who cares if you saw it before?
3 Random in what way?

To all nations; we know that military forces and their offensive use (defensive being understandable) are a joke. World War II was caused in large part by Hitler feeding on the aftermath of WWI, and most conflicts have roots in past conflict. Conclusion: offensive action rarely achieves anything and never in the longer term.

So why not make the armed forces a real joke. This is about disabling the capability to make war, thus promoting peace. Why do it this way? Apes are cute and it will give everyone a laugh while they live in PEACE. (FS)

Upon further review, The Rogue Nation of Greenspoint has come to believe this is just another attempt by some tinpot dictator to get the UN to fund his gorilla warfare.

We are just trying to build up another world different to the real one. These is the basic utility of Internet. But due to those conservative persons like you we are compelled to decide obvious things: whether the religion is good or bad, for example. But we can expand the possibilities and vote that religion doesn´t exist if we want. See the difference? This is only one example. So if we say we can make an ape army good for everyone, it´s going to be like that for sure. This is not like movies.

While Gleeb has many natural wonders, it does not have any indigenous species of apes. Therefore, this proposal would threaten us with the greater ape-superiority of other nations. We will not allow a great-ape gap!

The Defence Minister for our coalition makes my point for me. Everyone whos has replied so far seems bound by the constraints of mundane rational thinking. In NationStates, rational doesn't have to mean the same as in the real world. An army that enlists apes would be insane in the real world. Newsflash: this isn't the real world.

In the real world, a way to get to world peace would be complicated by many different issues and getting rid of armed forces wouldn't completely solve the problem. In this SIMULATION GAME, getting rid of armed forces would work. We have proposed making armed forces and offensive war the jokes that they really are, but a joke we can laugh at rather than watch pictures of massacre and screaming children.

Again, this proposal is about peace. Think about it, please.

Gleeb, this isn't about military strength so don't be worried about how many apes are indigenous to your nation. Anyway, we believe that only captive apes from zoos and the like should be freed and given military posts. Our region stands firmly against cruelty to animals, and count the capture of wild animals as a basic affront to their rights.

Given that reasoning, we should use army ants instead of apes. They're smaller, easily ignored, kinda funny ... and they're already trained. Simple.

It sounds good. But I think we have here a lot of psychotic dictatorships with armies ready to kill. We can´t just say: you have to use ants as soldiers. They only need to pass a proposal inventing another word for army (let´s say grload) and we´ll have again traditional armies ("grload") ready to kill. We have to take into our responsibility make these armies useless in the long term (or for ever) and that´s why we think they must be ruled by apes.
