A Less Contoversial Proposal, From A Known Atheist.

17-01-2004, 15:30
PLEASE SUPPORT THIS UTILITARIAN PROPOSAL:

Whereas urban traffic is not only a cause for a waste of natural resources, increased pollution, and the creation of the newly termed "road rage" - I submit to the United Nations that to at least speed up the travelling processes of motorists, all Fuel Doors installed on cars from this point onward be placed on the same side (I don't care which one.)

Somebody explain to me why this isn't already the case. Refueling has now become not only a test of wills but a freaking chess game; stressing our already overstressed general public and costing us millions each year in higher insurance rates, as a result of unneccesary fender benders and gridlock.

I realize this proposal is rather modest and will not save the world or feed the hungry. However, I do think it is a rather easy proposal to support. Wouldn't it be nice (in 7-10 years for true effectiveness to take place)to pull in to an urban gas station and simply pull behind someone that was facing the same way as you, and waiting for them to finish before you proceeded. I find this much better than the current alternative.

An interesting idea. I don't know if I've ever thought about that before. Efte will think about it.

Hm... could you elaborate a little bit more on the issue? The majority of citizens in New Eriu do not drive cars, so I'm not quite certain what exactly it is you are proposing.

9OOC weird, I only posted once and I didn't even get a 404 error but it posted twice. Oh well, ignore this line)

Swwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet...........

New Eriu?? Just read the proposal dude..... That's what I am proposing. Do u have a learning disability?
17-01-2004, 17:05
The wording is unclear and cluttered, but after rereading it three times, and discussing with our parlimacy I think we have the rough idea.

Better soloutions could be inforced, however.

For example, if this law were implemented, what would happen to all the cars that already exist that did not meet this proposal? Should they be recycled (at the owner's expense) or replace (at the expense of the nation)?

If neither then it does not ease the issue at hand at all.

Perhaps the proposal should be written so that all fuel providers should have hoses long enough to go around the car in the event of improper parking. This makes more sence, and is more cost efficient and easier to implement.

While the Druidic Theocracy supports environmental initiatives, insulting a future delegate is an unwelcome tactic, so we have decided not to support your proposal.

It explicity states a 7 to 10 year phase in. Older cars will just have to be tolerated (Antiques, etc.) No I don't think the stations should extend the pump hoses. There is an OSHA regualtion determining their longest extent for safety reasons anyway....... UGH!

An interesting proposal.

Is it not simplier to create more versatile pumping stations without stifling the creativity of the automotive designers or the freedom of choice in the buyers?

Yes, I think it obviously is...
17-01-2004, 19:30
Instead of taking it all the way to NS UN, why don't you just fix your little crisis within your own borders? You are right, it won't cure world hunger or stop wars, and perhaps it isn't important enough to be in the UN...

I know I may get flamed for this, I just think its a waste of time. Let's get serious, if soemthing like this were proposed in the real UN, wouldn't the world look at it and laugh? Its an original idea, but so was the blue spotted banana.

a very valid point.

Indeed. if it bothers you that other countries have different automobile designs you may also want to impose import restrictions on foreign automobiles unless they also have the same design standard as your country does.

More versatile pumping stations or Changing all fuel doors to the same side?

What you think is simpler? Don't answer. Freedom of choice in the buyers? You actually choose one car over another just because the fuel door is in the back instead of the right? Again.. don't answer.

This proposal is OK for all Barilochenses.

Blue Spotted Bananas?! BRILLIANT! Why didn't I think of that?

The Rogue Nation of Greenspoint does not see that this proposal addresses a situation that is in anyway a problem, and cannot support the imposition of further regulations on our Autmotive Industry.

We further feel that even if the question of fuel input tube locations WERE a problem, given the large number of nations that don't use or have outlawed automobiles, this is not an issue with which the U.N. should be getting involved.

This is an interesting proposal. Like Efte said, I've never really thought about it. But I'll give it a think.
Just looking at the topic heading - what has you being, an atheist got anything to do with this proposal? Or were you just stating it for the hell of it?
