A Proposal to end all abortion within UN states.
To The various Nations of the UN, with great respect to the many Regions being represented. I propose an end to the decilant murder of innocent child. I believe and propose a bill to outlaw abortion!

Why don't you take, oh, ten minutes to look around, before you start posting proposals and flooding the forums?
We'd appreciate it. Thanks.
Enh, this seems more like something to be decided on a nation-to-nation basis. While you obviously believe it's wrong, the Happy Bubble Land parliment, for instance, doesn't necissarily think the same thing. While it is a touchy issue, we think that it is a woman's right to choose if she wants one or not. In any case, we have no right to push our opionions onto your fair nation, and you have no right to push yours upon us. It should not be a UN issue, any more than Euthinasia was.

Actually you're right about that, even I am personally FOR euthanasia. It's not right to push an opinion upons someones nation, but on the otherhand all countries in the UN know that they maybe would need to adapt laws that they don't like and they can leave at any time.

The purpose of the UN is to promote peace and open trade between members, to provide aid to developing nations, and to attempt to limit Weapons of Mass Destruction. The UN is not supposed to decide on the internal policies of its member-states, especially on issues which are morally-based, such as abortion and euthanasia. It is an organization which is supposed to respect the sovereignty of a nation, rather than overpower it.
Same ol' same ol'... give the nations a proposal that is well thought and meaty, please!

Many players don't seem to recognise that the UN in this game cannot perform most of the functions of the real UN. It cannot regulate war and perform peace-keeping, because war is only RP, so you can't fight unless both parties agree and you can't really stop people doing something, and war is often preferable to peace in RP - plus many members such as myself don't even RP, so even when they are possible, peace-keeping efforts would be made up of only some members. Given that so many enjoy free role-playing for war, they often dislike legislation that restricts weaponry, and we've probably passed all the anti-WMD legislation that will get through. All that leaves from what you've said is aid to developing nations - which many nations disagree with because this is a game so they see no pressing reason to waste their time helping others - and free trade. There is a limit to how much interesting debate you can get out of the merits of free trade, and a limit to how much you can do about it with legislation.
Therefore, for this game to be interesting for players who concentrate on the UN, other issues have to be dealt with, and inevitably, with such strong opinions around, argument moves to moral topics. In addition, many feel that fundamental human rights are so important that they should be dealt with internationally - sparking interesting debates on what exactly humans should have the right to do.
