Family Pets

When a family pet gets seriously ill the animal may be "put to sleep" so it will no longer have to suffer. If we offer euthenasia to these family memvers why not offer them to our others. Or for or ownsake when we are old and delerious and cannot even remember our own friends and family.

Well if you would consider your grandparents to be family pets, go ahead and make it legal in your country when the topic comes up. However, do not try to stuff that rationale down the throats of other countries. The life of a dog does not compare to the life of a person. Human life is the most sacred of all life on earth. If you do not value it, don't force other countries not to as well.

If we legalize Euthanasia the next step is legalizing murder. We cannot allow that to happen!! If you want to legalize Euthanasia in your country go ahead, but do not force me to make it legal in mine.

how can it be murder when the person wants to die, saying the two things are the same is ridiculous! people deserve to die with dignity and not have to suffer. anyone who objects to euthanasia has obviously never watched someone they love and care about slowly dieing in a hospice, just waiting and watching as the people around them die, not being able to do anything except lie in pain and discomfort until it's their turn, if they have then they havn't got a heart, watching people you love suffer needlessly is one of the most awful feelings in the world and i wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

*Points to own topic on this*

This resolution bypasses the person in question's viewpoint entirely. I have not many problems with Euthanasia on some occasions from a moral perspective. This resolution, name aside, does not solely allow mercy killings; it grants doctors, hospital staff, in fact, anyone with a medical degree, the Legal Authority to Kill At Will.

That, I have a problem with.

i admit, whoever wrote the resolution should have thought about what he was writing, doctors and nurses and hospital staff shouldn't be allowed to decide if a person should die or not, only the person suffering or if they are unable to do so, it should be up to their next of kin and should only be done if the person is terminally ill

The logical progression, then, is to vote against the resolution. Since you don't want doctors and nurses to have the power to legally kill you or anyone you know, it makes sense to do so.

i havn't and don't intend to vote for or against the resolution

HOW DARE YOU! You seem to believe you are BETTER than all other creatures? Why is this? Is it because of your opposable thumbs? Your precious WHEEL? What about the dolphins? The cats? The eagle? Human life is sacrred? What about us atheists, who believe nothing is sacred?
Give me ten valid reasons why human life is more important that that of another animal, without mentioning religion.
