I'm fairly new to Nation States but from what I've seen of the UN we are being asked to vote on a long series of poorly spelt, gramatically incorrect proposals and resolutions.
The issues being discussed surely deserve more care and attention to this and I therefore beg all members to take more time constructing their proposals. Many people (myself included) will oppose a resolution purely on the basis of it's poor construction, this I appreciate is a little petty but in my eyes, and in those of many others....it matters!

But yeah, I agree.

Ultimately I think it is the responsibility of the delegates to not endorse poorly written proposals. I personally refuse to approve poorly written proposals as a rule - if all of the other delegates do the same, then we're home free!

Heh heh, looks like someone doesn't know their past participles of "to spell"...ZONRANIA!

There is a current discussion in Technical that might go a long way towards resolving this issue. Please add your comments:

Hi I’m new to nation states, and am already a little irritated by this silly 'make sure you spell everything right' thing. Fair enough I can see that a degree of grammatical correctness is required to ensure that messages are not ambiguous, however, to disregard a view (or whatever) that may or may not be valid simply because the writer cannot spell is foolish. :D :D :o

It's a matter of courtesy, King Steve. Proper spelling and grammar show that you care enough about your proposal to present it in a good light. If you can't be bothered to spell-check something that will affect ALL UN nations, then we shouldn't bother to support it.

We're not Grammar Nazis*. We're just looking for a bit of respect.

I dont know if you have noticed this but this is infact a game. Therefore what happens in this UN will not affect any of the countries that are in that actual UN. As far as im concerned people play games to escape the realities of life, not be bound by ones even more trivial in the game.

Does the fact that this is a game invalidate the call for courtesy?

No one has ever made any claim that anything here will affect anyone in the actual UN. I thought it was obvious that we were referring to the game UN. I'd suggest that you spend a little more time enjoying what you like about the game and let others enjoy what THEY like ... which in my case, includes proper spelling and grammar.

I agree on the proper spelling issue I think that was the primary reason last week's Popup resolution wasn't accepted.

I too appreciate it if someone who might not be great at spelling spends some time on his writing to check it is grammatically correct.

It took me some time to write this as well, it's been a while since I wrote english

LOL, whats wrong with you people?!? Everyone doesn't have good skills in english and it is just a god damn TOOL to play this great game! I agree that it is hard to find out what some1 is saying if it would have some horrible mistakes which make it 'blabla'. UN proposations should be about well-written but you know what, how about that approval-persons send all proposations to you for inspection for any grammatical e.g. errors? If you cant do it please dont contiune this bullshit.

I do agree, but it will take some time

Perhaps but wouldnt it be better if nations took more time when writing them so we wouldn't get the endless stream of crap resolutions? Infact it'd also mean we wouldn't need to repeat resolutions given that some repeats are attempts to redo badly written/thought out proposals.
