Arms manufacturing is a mainstay of our economy, furthermore we reserve the right to defend ourselves and will not support any part of this proposal, and will stand against it until the end.

The manufacturing would not put a ban on regular arms; only WMDs

Regardless, Guntland reserves the right to defend itself by any means nessicary.

OK. We've stopped immediately. Of course, we hadn't started yet, so stopping wasn't all that difficult.

Now, having stopped, we're going to start again. Nothing in this resolution says we can't. For every four we build, we will immediately destroy one (by disassembling it and putting it back into queue for reassembly). We therefore meet the letter of the law. Does that make you happy? No? Oh well.

Several months later, irritated at Frisbeeteria's skirting the intent of the law but strictly following the letter, 120 ticked-off UN Weapons inspectors publicly quit their jobs and fly to the South Pacific to drink Mai-Tais and work on their tans.

The UN promptly replaces them with a new pack of get-tough inspectors. They are met on the tarmac by Frisbeeteria's former UN Delegate, who returns Frisbeeteria's UN credentials and kicks the new inspectors out. He then takes a job as manager of Frisbeeteria's newest and biggest WMD manufacturing plant, now operating freely and legally outside of UN auspices.

Frisbeeteria is mildly irritated by the loss of 34,185 potential customers, but settles instead for the remaining 70,000 or so non-UN members and a burgeoning Black Market in illegal arms. Even if a UN member nation chooses to purchase our high-quality weapons, WE are breaking no laws. We withdrew from the UN, remember? Your laws don't apply to us anymore.
------------------------------
If the lesson of this little morality play is lost on anyone, let me just say that Frisbeeteria opposes this proposal.

Okay, so a chemical, biological, or radiological weapon that kills only tens of thousands of people is not classified as WMD ?

My nation supports this proposal 100%. Our nation believes in min. non-combatant casualities, and damage to civilan properties. Any nation that thinks it's okay to have WMD's obviously has never seen the end result of a nucular warhead detination, or the use of chemical or biological weapons. These weapons cause extreme pain and suffering on non-combatants, civilans. If you believe that there is nothing wrong with that, you cannot be human. Soldiers are expected to die in war, but innocent civilans are not. Women, children, and men should not be dying such needlessly painful deaths because of politics. WMD's should be banned out right.

The world has seen enough violence. Time for some peace, love and lots of hot, raunchy sex. Disarmament of WMD is the first step in outgrowing the culture of violence and maturing into a peace-loving world.

The nation of Krakenshell supports this proposal.

Read carefully, Your Excellency. The definition clearly states that only a weapon that can kill over hundreds of thousands of people is considered a weapon of mass destruction. This will cause nations to shift to agents that merely maim and incapacitate instead of kill. Given that most catholics would suffer more if they were incapacitated instead of killed, we urge your excellency to reconsider this proposal.

This is partly covered by the Bio weapons proposal passed

"Elimination of Bio Weapons
A resolution to slash worldwide military spending.

Category: Global Disarmament Strength: Significant Proposed by: Lovinia
Description: Biological weapons, if used during warfare or covertly, represent an enormous risk to the well-being of not just the target of said weapons, but potentially everyone on the planet. It is therefore imperative that nations eliminate these heinous weapons.

Votes For: 13023

Votes Against: 5449

Implemented: Sat May 31 2003"

But this proposal was brief so i support your proposal :P

This proposal will not result in less non-combatant casualties at all. Nations will just shift to agents that maim and not kill. The result would be more wounded, not less.
