Are you afraid of terrorists?

Krensavic is promoting a proposal to combat terrorism by compelling nations to aggressively police their own territories.

This may or may not be a good idea; we are not sure. If many nations feel threatened by terrorism (as Kren assumes) then the idea could merit support.

However neither we nor our neighbors have had any trouble with terrorists, and see little need for such action. Are we in the minority on this?

Perhaps this poll will give us guidance.

Please simply say how greatly you have suffered from terrorism recently.

Thank you.

We admit there have been some nasty buggers around lately, a moderate amount, but nothing we can't handle.

Terror is not necessarily all bad. It keeps our skills sharp, and makes the populace more dependant than ever on their leaders.

many of my aunts friends died on 9.11 and she was so lucky, the only reason she is alive now is because she was sick that day. So I think this affects many people differently. Obviously if you live in Finland your not going to be affected, but New Yorkers sure as hell are.

But I think we are much safer now, then say in 2001.

My nation has recived a few threats in the past, but is prepared to deal with any threat. Is terrorism a real issue, for every nation? Yes. Is the Armed Republic of Redhawks feel seriously threatened by terrorism? No, not at this time.

I'm sure than in real life many of us have been affected by 9/11.

I have friends who lost relatives and church members then. We even saw some of the results firsthand; we lived near Shanksville PA where the one plane crashed.

My question is really an "in character" one, about the NS nation(s) you represent. In the NS world, is terror an issue? That's my question.

I suspect we are importing our everyday concerns into our world of imagination. Should we?

I do not think terrorism is a big issue worldwide. Relative to war, car accidents, smoking, pollution which kill far more people each year easily with at least a 10:1 ratio even in the year of 2001. I would wager more Americans died of smoking or accidents that year than as a result of the attacks on the World Trade Center. (OOC: I have many friends from New York affected by 9/11, I do not mean to be insensitive)

Terrorism is an issue, but there are bigger issues. We never support proposals that discuss the combat of terrorism... there are more important issues that our funds can go to.
