The true meaning of beauty

Hi all,
I have submitted a proposal to the UN called Free Cosmetic Surgery. It is a way of evening out some of the inequalites in this world in terms of healthcare and other social issues. Basically folks wanting these procedures are made to contribute to the world beforehand. After all there must be something wrong in a world where wrinkles are unacceptable but a starving child is not.
I'm really hoping enough people will endorse it so that we can get it to a vote.
(Last time I put in a proposal it was pulled for being in the wrong category. I am hoping for better luck this time. If not can proposers please be told which category they should be in?)
Please take look and support it if you feel you can. :D
Happy playing
Free Cosmetic Surgery
A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.

Category: Human Rights
Strength: Significant
Proposed by: Nethercote
Description: This is a proposal to help make the world a much better place. It would work like this. Anyone wanting cosmetic surgery (e.g nose/boob jobs, facelifts, tucks etc.) would first have to work for free in a third world nation for a period of between 12 and 18 months. During this time they could usefully be digging wells, building hospitals, plant fields or whatever most needs doing.
At the end of that time, they can return to their own country and get the surgery for free if they still want it. Everyone gains.
Poor nations get much needed help.
People gain a new perspective (those too shallow to do so probably deserve to look like startled rabbits for the rest of their life).
Doctors freed from pointless surgery could practice real medicine.
You and I get to see fewer stretched faces.
There is an option for nations to only allow the surgery on people who will be prevented from breeding so as to reduce their impact on the gene pool.
Approvals: 4 (Freebonia, The twoslit experiment, Kevin Phillips Bong, Kratonius)
Status: Lacking Support (requires 134 more approvals)
Voting Ends: Sat Jan 10 2004
It's an interesting idea, and I would love to see it implemented, if merely to watch people's reactions, but I don't think I can support it. I think that too many people would find a way to circumvent the law, and this would result in a bunch of snooty people doing nothing for a year in third-world countries, or going somewhere "underground" to have a paid, illegal, and probably extremely unsafe operation.
The proposal says they work for "free." This means they wouldnt need to be given food or shelter.
Im afraid I'd have to say no on these grounds.

You have to be kidding. What happens if it goes horribly wrong ?

People don't seem to worry about radical beauty treatments going horribly wrong when they pay through the surgically enhanced nose for them.
Otherwise they would not stuff their skin full of botulism toxins.
