Vote NO for current proposal, YES for revised proposal

The current proposal, "Internet Advertising Popups", has good intentions but is flawed grammatically and in content. It is poorly written and a new proposal has been written by myself, called "Internet Popup-Ad Reduction".

Please support this new proposal, as it furthers the cause of the original.

Please keep in mind that this resolution is not just a rewording of the current resolution to make it grammatically correct. It is a completely new proposal not written by the original author which details the background and requirements of member nations once passed. Also, unlike the current proposal, the new proposal does not ban popup ads; it simply requires browser companies to allow popups to be turned off.

And please, vote NO to the current resolution, as the integrity of the UN resolution proposal process is at stake.

Yeah, I agree on the no vote, but didn't an anti-popup resolution already pass recently?

It was certainly voted on, although I don't remember the result.

There was the recent anti-spam resolution, but I don't know about pop-ups - look through the past resolutions and see if it's there.

Actually, there is resolution 245A - Proper Grammar, which makes it illegal for us to pass the current resolution.

So stick that up your pipe and smoke it.

But no, there is no anti-pop-up law currently

Vote NO, but not for the reason given by Brandonion.

The resolution is yet another attempt by government to involve itself in something that can be left to people to sort out themselves. People don't like pop-ups, and pop-up blockers are being developed to block them. In the real world, the Google one is pretty good. If you don't like something, take responsibility for fixing it, don't just say that the government or the UN should pass a law against it.

But we shouldn't oppose resolutions just because they are not written in perfect English. After all, English isn't everyone's first language here. Might be different it we had everything translated into 6 languages like the real UN.
