Title: Gun Safety Education

The General Assembly

Realizing the threat to world security caused by the illicit proliferation of small arms and light weapons,

Gravely concerned by the ease at which small arms and light weapons can be acquire through the illicit arms trade,

Bearing in mind the possibility that a civilians or non-government acturs may need SA/LWs in order to prevent prosecution or attacks on a minority group or personal self-defense,

Concerned that absence of familiarity in matters of handling safety may cause lethal accidents where SA/LW’s are left in areas of past battles or abandoned by the combatants or by criminal elements,

Encouraging the creation of educational programs such as the Eddie Eagle Course to reduce such damage,

1. Proposes that governments should cooperate with NGO’s so as to provide education on small arms safety in areas affected by warfare and violence;

2.Suggests that a UN fund be started to help fund such programs (the UNGEF - the UN Gun Education Fund)

3. Sets forth a sum of 20,000,000 dollars for this cause, donated by Allanea.

4.Encourages other nations to donate to the UNGEF.

5. Decides to remain actively seized on the matter

Hunter safety education is fine; let's leave it at that level.

No child needs sidearms.

Personally, i think its a shaky idea to begin with.

And to implement it would be nearly impossible because people in those types of countries dont care about gun safety really. Theyve been dealing with guns all their life and dont want people to tell them how to handle guns properly.

   guns shouldnt even be allowed to be used by anyone except people of high imprtance, such as myself. If normal people were to have guns that would be disaterous, it could possibly lead to vilence against you...

Nobody needs sidearms for that matter, but we have the right to have them.

No child needs sidearms.

We're not talking about teaching people how to shoot.
Four Rules.

1. GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED.

2. NEVER POINT A GUN AT SOMETHING YOU DON'T WISH TO SHOOT.

3. KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOU'RE READY TO SHOOT.

4. POINT YOUR GUN IN A SAFE DIRECTION.

And, for kids: NEVER TOUCH GUNS OF UNFAMILIAR MAKE

That's what I'm talking about.

We support education as well as safety. We have approved your resolution and will vote for it if it reaches the floor.
