Compulsorary Gun Law

03-01-2004, 11:20
Un Proposal. Compulsorary Gun Law.
I would like to advocate the law of arming all citizens with firearms to make our society more equal and therefore safer. If everyone HAD to carry guns then the criminals couldn't commit armed robberies because everyone would have a gun. It would smash the illegal gun smuggling rings, everyone could buy them from legal sources. Please back me and vote for this proposal. Lets make it the law!

So now instead of the criminals (who are going to do the opposite of what you tell them to anyway) and the police (who probably need the guns to combat the criminals in the first place) having guns, you want to give everyone else the open invitation to shoot at each other? In fact, you want to make accepting that invitation mandatory?
Doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

The proposal starts badly, then gets weaker towards the middle, and any sense of use it had completely tails off at the end.

Absolute bollocks.

Sadaway agrees with the above. We will not support this action and will go against it at all costs.

With guns for every citizen, arguments woul turn into firefights. I think there would be many more homicides, not to mention all the accidents.

And deaths at bars would multiply by a factor of 10.

Real smart.

The Federation of Soltak will not support this proposal. While it advocates the licensing of firearms to many individuals, to make it mandatory that everyone have a gun is ridiculous. Additionally, many individuals are not capable, either mentally or physically, of using a weapon appropriately.

I also did not see any provision regarding the issuing of weapons to ex-cons, children, or the mentally handicapped.

Not only is this a poor idea, it's poorly presented.

Guns don't kill people, idiots with guns kill people. The average person is in no need of a firearm. I run a tight ship in my country there is virtually no crime. I am a believer in the Right to bear arms. However this right does not transfer a mandatory notice. People have rights and freedom from rights (however in my state this does not mean freedom from Religion). If people use the most powerful tool they have (car, firepoker, hammer, baseball bat, power drill or auger, and many other tools) as weapons just imagine the effect of giving ever Tom, Dick and Harry a gun. Tom and Dick are in the morgue and Harry is in critical condition.

Think of all the people you know who may fit into one of these categories:

impulsive
paranoid
crosseyed, nearsighted etc.
crazy
hot tempered
emotional
vengeful
half awake
distracted
just plain mean

OK? Now give each one an Uzi.

Pleasant dreams.

A thing that lots of people like you overlook about guns is that they are very dangerous weapons. They have to be handled carefully. If every idiot had a gun, then it would not only put those idiots in danger, it would also put everyone else around them in danger. Also, Collaboration has a good point.

I wouldn't give myself a gun, even if the only thing I had to do was walk into a shop and buy one.

Recurring I was just thinking. I must have written in the somewhere quite the reason why things go wrong. And even if you are new, I am not feeling like repeating myself.

But I could say, that would make things rather bloody.

I have an other idea, lets give nobody a gun. Then everybody is equal to. But it would be a lot less bloody :P.

For the note, I did not abolish guns in my country.

People will have arguments till ethernaty. The entire process in history has however been a process of finding out how to make it less bloody. Once there was a time you didn't go to court, but just tried to shoot the others brains out :P.

But I do propose your country gives everybody guns :). Your reduction in population will quickly make me economically by pass you :D. Might even stir things up a bit. It should be possible to find a couple of trigger happy people in the area.

I don't know if it was this topic, or another.....but

does count my big gun that fires mini nuke counts too? Or did you have some abstract and arbitary line somewhere?
04-01-2004, 07:33
And if you have, start wondering in your own mind. Why did I create without thinking that much this arbitrary line? That propably means you win the argument with yourself against your proposal :).
