Well, consider this:
If multiple companies collude to keep prices high, one can assume that the companies colluded out of greed, right?
But at the same time, if a single company can make more money by withdrawing from the collusion and selling things at slightly lower prices (thus it will earn more money), greed dictates that it should do that too, right?
Which is why no corporate monopolies have ever lasted more than a few years, even without anti-trust laws.
As any good drug dealer will tell you, all monopolies are created by physical (read: state) force. And I defy you to find a counterexample.
