United Nations

I joined the United Nations because I thought it was the right thing to do-work with the international community and all, but I was apparently wrong.

In reality-and I am sure there are those people who sell "arms" and other sundry items on NationStates who don't understand the word relaity-but, in reality, the United Nations has officially robbed my people of autonomy, sunk my nation into a dark age depression, and created a socialist world.

I haven't been a member long, but has a UN resolution ever failed, and has there ever been a resolution that was conservative in nature?

More aid, more money for the poor, good treatment, increased perscription drugs.

I am wondering if people stop to ponder why the world doesn't have those things, they all seem great at the surface, so why doesn't earth have them? It is because Kofi Annan is a George Bush-controled conservative dictator (I don't think so). It is because those things are not realistic.

I would love to spend the kind of money UN binding resolutions require my country to spend, but first of all I would be broke. I am a capitalist, and my point is to operate a nation of free will and free economy-the United Nations has taken that away from me.

I think Nation States should have a security council where some sane governments/regions operate as a Security Council with the ability to veto stupid, liberal legislation that in reality would create worldwide anarchy, depression, and communism.

No, because all the conservatives whine about all the liberals in the UN and leave instead of actually teaming up and doing anything.

There have been proposals, but they can't make get enough votes for a resolution.

I would remind you that this is a game. Kofi and George don't exist here. Whatever you think about them in real life does not affect the way the UN actually function in NationStates.

If you mean failed as in did not pass, yes.

I am a leftist by the way and I consider myself very much a realist. In real life, I am a Political Science and International Affairs Major whose mentor helps out with the UN Human Rights Committee.

My politics used to be very conservative... but I found out the world is more complicated than that.

That last paragraph you said you can make it as a suggestion for a change in the game. Make it a resolution and it will get taken out as it changes the game mechanics. There are quite a few in the UN that support anarchy and communism, depending who is on the council, they may veto anything that promotes bigger government and capitalism.

Want to change how the UN works? Get more people who think like you to join. Its usually people like you that leave so quickly.

Good luck and Best Regards

You forget Common Sense Act II - the worst resolution to pass the UN ever.

Incidentally I based my UN Resolution on a real life UN Resolution and the actions of George W. Bush. Bush proposed increased funding to help out with the battle against the AIDS, and the UN passed a resolution that would increase access to medicine by a vote of 164-1. Its not too hard to guess who was the dissenting the record considering the inconsistency and hypocrisy the country has had in history.

And this coming from a native born and raised citizen that resides in a relatively conservative region.
