What do you have to do to pass a proposal around here?

I wrote a proposal that didn't obviously suck and which enjoyed a decent level of basic goodwill support, posted on the forum, lobbied over six hundred delegates, and I still didn't make quorum. What the hell do you have to do to get a proposal on the ballot?

It's very hard! There are many delegates who just don't bother using their power.

Much as I hate to admit it, there's a fair amount of luck involved in what makes it to the floor.

F'rinstance, right now being the Christmas-New Year period, there's the potential for delegates to be away on holidays or simply "not in the office" for whatever reason. I know that I'll often load up NS with the best of intentions and forget to do something I planned on doing, right at this sort of time.

Then there's the issue of how long the proposal list is (which is partly my fault, see above and replace 'delegate' with 'moderator'), if there are any big wars going on, if anything else is in quorum - etc etc etc. It's ultimately a classic case of the planets lining up in the right way. If it happens, you've done the NS equivalent of winning the lottery - if it doesn't, you've done your best.

I'm new and I don't know how to lobby my representative to vote a certain way.

I understand that it takes a while to get support, and My question Is how do I support an idea?

Its hard. Alot of it stems from politics. It seems like alot of the resolutions are made by liberals, but alot of delegates are conservatives. Thats were a big chunk of difficulty comes in. The represenative for Highbury, Meyoria, is a hard nosed conservative and hates my nations. We may end up going to war simply because he sees me as a threat to his national stability.

Quiet you or I'll give you the buisness end of a blitzkrieg

To support a proposal you need to become a delegate. I would suggest reading the stickies at the top of the UN home page.

Try to get your proposal submitted around 9 AM ET...if it is on page 1 on the last day of consideration, it helps.
