New Proposals pre-debate

We are all Humanoids

We of 'We are all Humanoids' have noted that few proposals are passing Quorum! This may have much to do with the number required for Quorum now the UN is growing. However, most proposals fail due to a lack of detail, or for the want of perusal before the proposal is put forward. Many fail because they are an attempt to force personal view points onto a world that clearly will not tolerate such. {Any attempt to legalise drugs (or rape, or sodomy of canines, or such extreme views) will never get through and in any case should be left for individual nations.}

We are therefore putting this forum forward as an area where proposals can be initially aired prior to their formal proposal, other nations can comment, or make points and the originator can then either ignore, amend, or propose and be damned! It is hoped that this will increase the amount of well thought through proposals that may make it as far as resolutions.

For those nations worried about their ideas being 'stolen', all I can say is surely if your proposal is worthy of the UN stage it is for the betterment of humankind as a whole, and therefore whoever proposes it is not important if the world as a whole benefits.

As my Resolution is on the brink of passing I would like to give some advice to those writing. I hope you do not mind "We are humanoids". I do not mean to steal away any of your thunder.

Suggestions on how to get your proposal to pass:

1. The most important one: Write it well. Do not just include what it is going to do, but include your arguments for it. Do not just include moral arguments too, as we all have different sets of values. Include arguments that are related to self-interest and national interest. Include detail but also be straight to the point.

There are rules to making a proposal also, which can be found and explained here:

2. Make it broad. Different countries have different ruling styles and economic systems. If the resolution calls for it to be implemented by private industries, it will have little or no effect on any socialist country, more likely a socialist country will vote against it. The same goes if a resolution calls for state-owned firms to implement it, it will have little effect on a capitalist country, and again, the capitalist country will most likely vote against it.

3. Lobby. If you have the free time, the patience, the energy, and believe in your proposal; lobby like crazy. Find the List Delegates page on the UN and send telegrams. Suggest people to at least take a look at your proposal. Get your friends and allies involved too. Perhaps visit regions and mention your resolution.

These are just a few suggestions.

Good luck to all.

Anthonycha: As we stated in our preamble to this forum, stealing of thunder is not the idea here, all we wish is an area where good ideas, (or bad ones for that matter) can be raised, disected and improved to a point where they maybe worthy of consideration.

Oh yes, one last thing, when you are lobbying, be sure to include the name of your resolution and page number. This makes it easier for people to find and look at your proposal

As some nations may be aware, 'We are all Humaoids' as a nation are keen on improving the education levels of all of the worlds people. In the hope of achieving such we recently put forward a proposal which attempted to reduce the amount of poorly thought through and spelled proposals. This proposal failed under the 'Game Mechanics' principle.

However, as the education of the masses is our primary aim we are considering another proposal, that we hope will help both mass education and the standard of proposals. A rough draft of our ideas for this proposal are given below. We emphasise that this is not yet a proposal, but ask for any nations that have a view about it to suggest any amendments that would clarify or help.

1. All people have a right to a basic education, in that they should be able to read and write their native language, in addition they should be able to complete basic mathematics.
2. All governments should be able to eloquently represent their people.

Therefore all member states are required to ensure, that all their peoples have access to the means wherebye, they can realistically be expected to acquire the stated levels of education. This is notwithstanding any medical disabilites.

Further all national representatives are expected to put forward any proposals in a clear, concise and grammatically accurate manner. Any proposal, that due to poor grammar, syntax, wording or spelling has a meaning that could be misconstrued or misunderstood will be removed from consideration.
