Liberal proposals

New Ithilien

We of the Republic of New Ithilien encourage every UN delegate to approve our proposal in support of freedom of the press. And while we're at it, in the interests of having something to vote on next week, we also encourage all liberal-minded delegates who care about human rights to approve these other proposals:

Declaration of Human Rights (Morganton)
Civil Rights (Rajura)
Scrap the Death Penalty (King Django)
Capital Punishment (Arrondisment)
We Want Rights, Not Lefts ! (Triple L)
Mechanical Rights Act (The Nanite Union)

There are enough liberals in the UN as it is.

I would vote in favor of the civil and human rights proposals, as well as rights of sentient mechanical beings. However, the death penalty is a critical deterent for many of the most dangerous criminals.

The death penalty is important, you can't come back and kill anyone if you're dead!

To those opposing a ban on the death penalty: perhaps you'd consider supporting the human rights proposals then?

Why cannot we be centrists and not bicker.

Civil rights: I'm all about that. Death penalty, I could take it or leave it. The issue is really too hot for me to want to touch it.

Kûk‡xenisi n!ok‡x'osi xno-k‡xek‡emi.-The state only exists to serve itself.
"Oppose excessive military spending, yet believe in excessive spending on junk food and plastic surgery to make all your women look like LARDASSES!"-Sino, when I criticized excessive military spending.

My freedom of the press proposal still needs 77 approvals to make the ballot. Again, I encourage all liberal-minded UN members to support press freedom. it can currently be found on page 7.

And while I'm at it, the Children's Bill of Rights needs another 50, and has a lot less time to go. Please consider endorsing it as well. It's a good resolution, which will improve the living and working conditions of children in all UN members. It can currently be found on page 2.

There should not be a "unversal" freedom of the press. Nation states should have the right to individually dictate how they handle "information dispensation". As a liberal you should recognize the "right to choose" versus a UN mandate on the issue. There will be no endorsement coming from Osnobia.
