I have herd that some nations should ban weapons like nuclear weapons. and i think that is just plain smart. If you support the idea that i have proposed i will thank you. Why is there weapons anyway. Is this not a peace full world. I need some support. Thank you

No, it is not a peaceful world, and it never will be. We need weapons to do one of the most important things in history- create change through violence. And without change, there can be no progress.

With an arsenal of Nuclear Weapons, LeeHarvey can guarantee its citizens and neighbors peace / harminy. Only ones who will not see peace and harminy are potential invaders...

Famous last words.

"We should outlaw guns. Hammers are enough, and besides, we live in a peaceful arrrrgh."

No, banning a technology only takes it away from those who wish to follow the law, and empowers those who disobey. In interpersonal violence, this may not be such a big deal - banning guns from civilian ownership does reduce shootings, at least - but banning nuclear weapons would just make war that much more dangerous. You wouldn't know whether or not your opponents have nuclear weapons, and would be more likely to inch that extra ace up your sleeve, in time of uncertainty.

The peace of people trying to avoid MAD is more peaceful than the silence of wasted cities.

perhaps banning biological weapons. But I dont think trying to ban nuclear weapons will help. Many nations will refuse this and try to make the UN look worse.....than it already is.

Sadly, while a resolution to ban nuclear, biological, or chemical weapons would be a good step towards a peaceful world, it would only affect those nations who are members of the UN.

Non-UN nations would still be free to build such weapons and attack UN nations with them. We must be able to defend ourselves accordingly. I cannot lend support to this proposal.

In a perfect world there would be no need for nuclear weapons... Unfortunately we live in a far from perfect world.

Its the same argument that has been made in the past: but if you outlaw guns, only outlaws witll have guns.

I believe in arms control and that we ought to REDUCE the amount of weapons we have, but not totally ban. There is still the issue of defense. I think it is okay to keep a small stockpile just in case any genocidal or imperial nations decide to strike.
