UN SPACE AGENCY PROPOSAL

22-12-2003, 00:17
we believe that a space program is the way forward. Space is the final frontier. We would like to see a worldwide space agency, designed to include all nations. This will give work to millions of unemployed, boost engineering, and make economies grow at a faster rate. Goverments wouldnt have to subsidise so many unemployed and we would see more of a global unity, having a universal goal. We would like to see all nations contributing to the costs, so that a little money put in will see a much larger return. There will be a nominated minimum amount put in by all nations. This will give poorer nations the chance to grow and re invest monies into the space plan.

This is our proposal, we would like delegates to vote for this poll as we feel it will enhance space plans, and introduce more chance of getting and exploring further into space, and maybe one day go out beyond our own solar system and galaxy.

I like it.

Senators, I am officially announcing my approval of Senator Slibina's UN space program proposal. I think this will do a lot to help our economies and those most in need as well as provide us with a great communications network and security. I have quickly approved this proposal and urge all of you to endorse it to other UN Delegates.

We also support it. We also praise the UN for it's lack of a leader but chide it for the UN delegates that aren't even elected.

Uhh, it's a little too late for the UN to do this.

The Republic of Burnation has already explored 90% of the known gallaxy and has claimed all such areas as property of The Republic of Burnation.

Members of the UN are welcome to come and visit but they will be taxed and barcoded. citizens belonging to nations that have voted No to the Hippo resolution will be subjected to further scrutiny and taxation.
22-12-2003, 01:19
The Republic of Dovaan contests The Republic of Burnation's claim on space. No nation can claim space, it is an open are as declared by international law.
22-12-2003, 01:25
Well we anticipated this, which is why you will notice wafer-thin barriers have been erected around the border of the known galaxy. This means that we are now dealing with an enclosed space. If you look closely, you will also notice that the above-mentioned barriers all bear the mark of the Republic of Burnation.
22-12-2003, 01:28
Now we know you are just bluffing. The meer idea of enclosing all known space is ridiculous, especially for a nation with only 250million people. Space is free and open to all, no nation may claim it as of yet.

You couldn't possibly enclose space the size of a galaxy, there simply isn't enough of anything that you could get your hands on.
It is everybody's to share, explore, research, wonder at, etc.

Back to the proposal, sounds good. Can we call it the UN Spacy (like in Robtech), or will that result in a law suit? This sounds a bit like the International Space Initiative resolution though.

We could call it Starfleet.

The UN has already passed the following resolution, and so an international spacefaring organization has already been established:

International Space Initiative

Category: The Furtherment of Democracy; A resolution to increase democratic freedoms.
Strength: Strong

Proposed by: Fortunado

Description: For better of democracy and the future of mankind, herewith is our proposal to form the International Space Intitiave (ISI).

A worldwide participatory group designed to cull the best and the brightest from around the globe for the sake of exploring worlds beyond our earthly soil. Rather than make the space race a race at all, the ISI fully utilizes the basic ideals of intelligence and communication. Working much like the United Nations, the ISI will plan, build and implement space exploration on a committee basis with shared expense and reward. As a bare bones plan, herewith are basic ideology for the ISI:

1. A universal collective of science, manufacturing and defense.

2. Cradle-to-grave education for all to ensure future generations that space is no longer regarded as a folly, but as a serious opportunity to utilize.

3. The chance to explore and possibly, ihabit, lands beyond Earth bringing forth a mission of Peace. Kindly cast your vote to ensure that the future of our children and our childrens' children fully explores all opportunities.

This invasion will not be tolerated. Offending nations have officially been warned.

Just give it up, this whole "I claim 90% of known space" is silly!

Just give it up, this whole "I claim 90% of known space" is silly!

It's saber-ratlling is all it is. (OOC: Sometimes it's scary how similar the nations in the real UN are to these ones. And those are real world leaders.)

The Empire is completely for this proposal as we have just finished our investigations of Mercury and Venus and will soon be turning our findings over to the UN along with the technology that we used to get there and back safely.

The Republic of Dovaan highly encourages more UN Delegates to get the word out about this very important proposal.
