Please support the Freedom from SPAM Resolution.

21-12-2003, 14:00
Greetings,
As the Dominion of Nouvelle's primary delegate to the U.N., I would encourage all U.N. members to support the current resolution. For too long has spam haunted the virtual world. This act will do more--and not just in the sim world--to combat spam.

We might not be able to imitate the real world in this simulated world, but we can certainly improve it and ban spam! 8)

From a technical viewpoint, how exactly do you intend to track spammers? Obviously this resolution goes a long way towards fixing the problem, but punishment alone is not enough without some way of finding who is committing the crime.

Good question. I'm not exactly sure...I didn't write this resolution after all! That would be interesting to know though. If you find out, post!

You didn't actually READ the proposal, did you, Nouvelle? Like so many voters, you just saw that it was against spam and blindly gave it your support. Now all UN members are saddled with a worthless, unenforceable law that won't do a thing to actually get rid of spam.

"Wave your magic wands, voters, and your problems will disappear." It's enough to make us consider withdrawing from this organization.

Oh, by the way, thank you for clogging my inbox with every possible piece of porn and unsolicited advertising you possible can, Frisbeeteria. Abova all, I do not appreciate being criticized in the way I have been above. I read the resolution and understood it quite clearly.

unenforceable law

Well, this is a simulation world, not a real one.

All legislation should provide not only goals to be met but mechanisms for meeting them. Among the mechanisms is provision for funding: Who gets to pay for this plum?

The Rogue Nation of Greenspoint supports a free market economy, and thus supports both the spammer's right to advertise and the spammee's right to develop/purchase anti-spam software.

We cannot support this proposal.
