Marijuana should be legalised
Marijuana is not as addictive as cigarretes, is no less intoxicating than alchohol, and has several medicinal purposes. By legalising the drug, it would cut down most drug crime in the state, and increase human rights.
You know, if we made drugs legal, organized crime would drop dramaticaly like when we made alcohol legal again. Groups like the mob don't want it to be legal cause they'll lose profit, and the mob has a lot of influence.
By legalising the drug you will then push the people who sell it out of business they will then have to do somthing else most probably selling harder drugs like heroin and cocain

The main point in it being feared as an illegal intoxicating substance is because it can have hallucinatory affects on certain users. It's hard to tell if this would make the world a better place to live in however. On the other hand, this may cause relaxation on other class c drugs and set a rollercoaster trend for legalising these drugs as well. And as for crime, as long as there's something to commit, there will be criminals, no matter how much you legalise.

The Empire's position on this very imporntant topic is simple. Marajuana is a drug, no less deadly or addictave than Ectasy, Cocaine, or Herione. For madicinal (medical) perpuses, the useage is fine, however, for the standard citizen, it must not be allowed. If you where to legalize it, you would also have to give almost every dangerous drug to every citizen in you're area. We would be just handing the stuff out to every 9 year old kid who goes up to a pharmacist and asks for a knatng (similar to one U.S. pound) of marajuana. We must not allow this to happen!

Exactly, Marijuana is a natural drug, unlike cigarettes which contain an array of unatural chemicals. :D
Although we of the USSZ are in favour of legalisation, we believe drug policy to be a local issue, and not something that should properly come before the UN.

Marijuana should remain illegal, it is a gateway drug. It can lead to more powerful, detrimental drug addictions such as cocaine, heroine, etc. But you bring up an interesting point, you said that it wasn't as addicting as cigarettes, or as intoxicating as alcohol, well quite frankly, I think that those should be banned as well.

At least you're consistent in your silly arguments. "Gateway drug" has to be one of the dumbest phrases in the English language. Right up there with "slippery slope", in fact. When I smoke weed, I don't feel any pull to try something harder. The fact that I believe decisions about what I put in my body should be based on good scientific research might make me more likely to try other drugs, but not necessarily. The drugs themselves have nothing to do with it.

The only way it could be a "gateway drug" is if the illegal dealer from whom you were buying cannabis one day offered you herion as well. If cannabis was bought from legal cafés and shops etc where hard drugs were not on offer, there would be less temptation. So really, that's an argument in favour of legalisation.

It's the prohibition of cannabis that leads to outlooks like this - all the illegal drugs get lumped together.
The Republic of Tirith legalised it, there's no point in it's illigalisation since it is non-harmful in small intake.
Being someone whose never actually tried drugs, I can't speak for the effects it may have on a person versus another drug or even ciggarettes (which I have tried, but only for a brief while.) Although in my nation, marijuana has been "legalized in the privacy of one's home."
