I would like to encourage further, open discussion of this issue.

Firstly, Soltak if you encourage further discussion on the issue, you are encouraging democracy.
Secondly, Scientific Discovery's official position on this issue is that political freedom is a right of the people, if they are going to abide by the laws they need to know thay had a hand in making them.

To clarify, I did not say that I objected to democracy in the United Nations, quite the contrary. Here, a group of mostly intelligent people can debate what is best for the world.

I contend that democracy on the national level is a bad thing, not on the international level.

I am sorry I missunderstood your intentions, and the contexts which were different.
I am firmly in favour of democracy and therefore I would not be one to stand in the way of the majority on a topic, even if it meant that the United Nations then adopted non-democratic governements on the national level. I would therefore be in favour of the proposal going to vote in the UN. I am not however a delegate so I can't put forward my approval.

I thank you for your support of a vote on the issue and request that you urge your regional delegate to approve the proposal.

Are you talking oligarchy as opposed to democracy?

I think that could work, but wouldn't it be taking a step back in the history of the world.... just getting like your businessmen running the country... you'd have pirates again which would be cool...

but then you'd need a government run group of elite ninjas to stamp them out...

or.... you could put the pirates on the payroll and have specialist ninja pirates enforcing law and order...

still, I fear change man... it's like.... all... uhh.. i forgot

What I think is mad is that you talk of taking away political freedoms of the people. Democracy's roots are allowing people to vote upon their leaders. If you take away the roots of the tree the tree will fall and decay. Decay with communism and dictatorship. Soltak, you are trying to sugar-coat what I think you mean. Each nation to become communist. Meanwhile I have put in a proposal for the FURTHERMENT OF DEMOCRACY. Here it is.

Furtherment of Democracy

A resolution to increase democratic freedoms.

Category: The Furtherment of Democracy Strength: Strong Proposed by: The Golden Simatar
Description: Communist, Dictatorship, and Police states are abundant. There is little if no political freedom. I propose we help these nations have a turnabout and switch to democracy. We should further the word of Democracy, thru issues that push the need for democracy.

Approvals: 2 (Dovaan, The Basilicus)

Status: Lacking Support (requires 133 more approvals)

Voting Ends: Tue Dec 23 2003

So tell your Delegates to vote yes for democracy.
