International court proposal

There is a new proposal up in the UN. You can find it here today:

I suggest you all take a look at this proposal.

For lazy people, here is the wording:

If a ruling on a case is handed down by the highest court available in the nation, and the ruling is questioned, this resolution will allow you to appeal to an international court.

The international court will decide which appeals to accept based on relavancy, controversy, and effect of ruling.

Major war criminals will be sent to the court.

Disputes between nations will be sent to the court, and the entire international community must stand behind the ruling.

The Tsalagi, will vote gainst such a resolution. Due to the corruptness of the International Community. All tests of the International Court systems, have so far failed, and I do not believe it is in the Tsalagi's best intrest. Also, our Sovereigntry must remain, and an International Court System, would strip that away from us. We do not support such a Resolution.

I didn't find about this until fairly recently, but it's possible to make a link that will follow your proposal (using the proposal search), assuming that the title is somewhat unique, like this:

As for commentary: I think an international court might be a good idea, and I just about agree with this proposal, but I dunno about the clause allowing people to appeal to it beyond their own nation's courts. I would say that an international court should be reserved specifically for international cases -- war crimes, and possibly disputes between nations, though giving nations the power to sue each other might prove counterproductive.

The actual UN has something like this (the International Court of Justice) but yes, it operates only on a country-to-country basis. :)

I think an ICC would be a good idea but only if we abolished governments and let the world be run by the UN.

The proposed international court should only deal with war crimes and dealings between nations. Having a court not of your country continually overruling your nations laws is absurd. Hey, where did my sovreignity go? And if this court were to be truly representative, there shoul be a rep from each country, or at least the delegates, no?
