A lot of incompetent, bitter teachers become that way due to the unending stupidity of their students. In at least one example you gave, all someone had to do was raise their hand and say "29." But nobody did, because of the complete lacklustre, half-ass approach most students have to their education today.

Don't whine to me, all you had to do was say "29."

What about the incompetent idiot who asked the students what 17 plus 12 was in the first place? If he can't figure that out, he shouldn't be teaching children.

And asserting that hippos aren't really that large -- why, that's just BLASPHEMY!

Why don't you create a proposal giving benefits to good teachers, give an incentive to teachers.

I agree with Forkissa.

If you've never done a proof of 1+1=2 using high level calculus, I doubt you could *prove* 12=17=29. :)

I have to say I agree with this.
IT teachers dont even seem to need an IT qualification to teach in England. I practially had to teach a lesson about a month ago when my IT teacher decided to "teach" us something she doesnt know.
Furthermore, one time I sat down and turned my computer on (i ad just come in to the lesson, id assumed our teacher would want us to do some work), when she walked past me and my friend and turned out computers back off, then continued abround the room pressing the power buttons. When my friend asked what she was doing, she said "I turned it on." My friend begged to differ, but she pointed at the blank screen and insisted "its on" until he finally showed her the power light was off. To this she responded with "well why was it on? I didnt ask you to turn it on. you arent supposed to touch the hardware!"
She wont let us plug in our own mouses if they come undone, either.

Incompetency is such a subjective term.

How could it fairly be evaluated; by student poll?

What is to prevent one of the lazy stupid cruel students who overpopulate our schools from getting a teacher tortured just for spite?

The "ban torture" bill was far to vauge to mean anything. Nothing was ever really defined in the bill and our nation... I mean... some nations still torture people. We don't bind people and electrodes don't have anything to do with bruising. Don't call it torture, call it student feed back and continue your old ways. It isn't cruel or unusual because it is a standard practice for your nation. It always was standard and it always will be standard. Student feedback has been shown to improove teaching ability.

What is to prevent a student from torturing a teacher for spite? Nothing... except the neckless lumbering jock that really likes that teacher because he/she treats his/her students with respect and knows how to teach.

You probably don't pay your teachers enough to be punishing them for incompetence

If we want to legalize torture of Incompetent teachers, we will also need to legalize the torture of
1. stupid students
2. lousy principals
3. Nosy/obnoxious Parents
...etc

:)

That opens the flood gates of voiding the ban on torture.

You can always blame the government...

It's hard not to touch the hardware if you want to use it. Maybe when we have thought control.. :)
