GREEN ENERGY TARGETS PROPOSAL, COME IN AND DISCUSS

13-12-2003, 12:44
The kingdom of Charlemont propose that a 20% proportion of electricity in member countries is to be generated by renewable sources by the year 2012. This would show the UNs commitment to a low carbon economy and renewable energy. I also propose that by 10% of all new cars should be powered by hydrogen fuel cells.

To find out how it would be run type GREEN ENERGY TARGETS into search UN proposals.
VOTE FOR THIS PROPOSAL PLEASE

Green Energy Targets

Category: Environmental; A resolution to increase the quality of the world's environment, at the expense of industry.
Industry Affected: Automobile Manufacturing

Proposed by: Charlemont

Description: I propose that a 20% proportion of electricity in member countries is to be generated by renewable sources by the year 2012. This would show the UNs commitment to a low carbon economy and renewable energy. I also propose that by 10% of all new cars should be powered by hydrogen fuel cells.

How it will be run

The ruling would be pretty easy to impose and work on in MEDCs. More Wind Turbines/ Solar pannels would have to be built. Each MEDC government would have to pay for these themselves. If they struggle to reach the target they will be able get money from the UN to help provide the resources to meet the targets.
In countries which already produce 20% or more Green energy there will nothing in the UNs eyes for them to do until 2012 when the resolution would be updated.

The target would be harder to reach in LEDCs. Here the Targets will be cut to 10% by 2012. The UN would provide funding for the equipment to allow the country to reach the target. (The money would come from UN coffers and Aid donated by UN member countries).

As for the Hydrogen cell proposal, this is something that would need to be enforced upon Car manufactures by local governments.

Facts for consideration

Renewable energy does not consume the Earth's finite resources but instead uses sources that will not run out: wind, solar, water (hydro and waves), and biomass (wood, crops, and waste).

ยท Renewable supply 14% of the world's energy, fossil fuel 80%, and nuclear power 6%.

Twenty turbines can supply 15,000 homes with electricity; burning coal to get the electricity would emit 45,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide and 600 tones of acid rain gas a year.
