Proposals

10-12-2003, 16:50
Can I request that People wishing to make proposals spend a day thinking about it, and maybe get another Nation to help write it up before attempting to get it approved. Otherwise, it will have many loopholes and flaws that will be picked up when it’s put forward to the rest of the UN.
Also, may I request the voters don’t vote until discussing the issue in the UN form (that is suggested on under the proposal by linking here).

A proposal that is placed on a good idea but has flaws, will loose votes.

I know there are many requests out there, but I think it would be helpful to have guidelines that we could use to make proposals, that are made by us, and can be modified by us in the future if needed.

My suggestions are:
*To make proposals the point, not lengthy paragraphs, but short statements.
*State advantages and disadvantages and be sure the advantages outweigh the disadvantages
*That you seek comments from friendly nations (if you have any) before trying to have it accepted.
*That you try to make you proposal sound appealing to the nations it will affect the most rather than just nations of your type.

If you don’t have any friendly nations that would help with suggestions, some on the Forum that seem most active against issues maybe willing, this would benefit your proposal by comments, and also gaining support from those most likely to reject it.

I like this idea but sometimes you can't put a proposal in short statements, sometimes it has to be in lengthy paragraphs. But everything else you put in as some suggestions I liked.

Good point, thanks for liking the other suggestions.

Can I quickly expend on a few about discussing the issues here in the forum... when posting try not to come across saying your opinion is correct and is more important, even if you feel it is.

Just remember that many areas of any situation can't be known, and also have different levels of important to different beliefs and cultures. I'm not going to press it, just mentioning that it can cause conflict, and loose you support for your case and your nation.

It’s a good idea to write them out in word, check for spelling mistakes (this caused an issue before for some reason), then read it through, paying attention to what each sentence tells you.

Anyone that does all of these (with some additional suggestions from other members I hope) could gain more votes for their proposal, and could even gain more endorsements from other nations.
