Please approve of the Voting Freedom!

Please approve of this proposal. This how it is word for word:

1. The voting age is now for people of the age of 16 and older. 16 year olds should be able to vote because most 16 year olds work. We need taxation with representation.

2. The right to vote cannot be denied to people, biased off of sex, cultural, race, or political background.

3. It will be up to the individual nation, to allow for people in prisons/jails or medical hospitals the right to vote. No nation will be allowed to just throw somebody into a prison/jail or medical hospital without a far trail.

4. The right to vote can be suspended in the time of war. I believe that during war, issues need to be passed fast. If too much time is taken for deciding what to do in time of need, than it could cause the nation to lose the war. But in order to be at war, both nations have to be in combat. You cannot be in war just to limit the right to vote.

Have a heart and please approve of this proposal.

Can I still bias it based on age? Why not limit it to people over 50 and be done with it?

Although I agree with the majority of the proposal, I believe that the voting age should be set individually within each nation, providing that said nation sets the voting age <25.

Using your theory, anyone who pays a tax should get the vote, I strongly disagree. By applying your theory, a three year old who buys a pack of gum should get the vote because he paid sales tax (dependant on region/nation). A three year old does not have the cognitive skills to make an informed decision independantly, and therefore he should not be given the vote. I believe the same should go for someone of the age of 16. At 16 I was far to prone to make decisions based solely on what parents, friends, and others said. This left something lacking. Realisicly, you are giving a parent with a 16 year old CHILD two votes, instead of the one he/she is entitled to.

That's also forcing nations to have voting in the first place.

You are against voting, than you do not belong in the UN.

What is so bad about the right to vote? I bet that those who disagree would be thrown out of office in the first election because everybody hates you.

What? In case you hadn't noticed, the UN isn't exactly democratic either. If I'm not mistaken, the delegates get extra votes for everyone they represent.

Do they really need us, non-delegates?

If the UN is democratic, than how come everybody gets to vote. The main difference between a dictatorship and Democracy is the right to vote.

The difference is in a dictatorship, the dictator is the one voting for everyone. That's a representational government like so many "democratic" nations.

I do not see why a person who is legally considered a child should be given the right to vote. The right to vote in the US was given to eighteen year olds not because they could pay taxes but because they could be drafted and sent off to war. The people of Galdon3 do not send their children off to war, so why should we be forced to let our children vote?
