Repeal The Metric System!

09-12-2003, 04:24
We can't force any one system of measurement on anyone! Why don't we next force Esperanto on people? And a universal currency, that next? While these actually look quite good on paper, they can not be forced. Let people use whatever system of measurement is convenient for them, conversions are simple enough!

It's a bit late to fight the resolution. It passed months ago.

I think that's why it says "repeal." As a new visitor to your planet, I would like to point out that the metric system is only convienient to species which use a decimal number system. My people have two hands with 4 fingers on each hand and so we use a base eight numbering system.

Seriously, 12 centimeters in a decimeter, 12 decimeters in a meter, that's crazy!!

10 pints in a gallon however makes perfect sense.

Unfortunately, in this and many other cases, game mechanics does not allow for a repeal of any enactment, however disastrous it may be.

The old measures are more fun: rods, chains, ares, links, gills, drams, they even sound better than all those uniform metric words.

You can always draft a new resolution that negates the previous one.
