BAN GANGSTER RAP MUSIC

Category: Moral Decency; A resolution to restrict civil freedoms in the interest of moral decency.
Strength: Significant

Proposed by: Towarzysz Gomulka

Description: It has come to our attention that the young generation assimilates itself to the rap identity, which promotes hatred, violence, prostitution, and even in some cases racism towards individuals of white skin.

We strongly think that such rap "artists" and their "masterpieces" should be considered as dangers to our society and civilisation. Therefore we wish to enforce a zero gangster rap tolerance, which should not give a bad example to society.

Freedom of speech ends where the freedom of others begins.

Approvals: 8 (Towarzysz Gomulka, Rakiec, BranTerralis, Taraguy, Cazaran, Phuckuvia, Todditius, Wolf Nation)

Status: Lacking Support (requires 121 more approvals)

Voting Ends: Wed Dec 10 2003

this is a terrible resolution. Gangsta rap comes out of a much bigger problem which has to do with innercity crimerates.

No offense, but your proposal is a terrible idea. I myself prefer not to listen to rap music, but I enjoy the freedom to be able to choose what I can listen to. Your proposal takes that freedom, drags it in the mud, throw it out the window, and crams your opinions about what I should listen to down my throat. Or, if you want to consider it from another angle, you propose to prohibit a form of art/method of expression. This is similar to the folks who want to ban Michelangelo's "David" because it is a nude sculpture. And besides, this crackdown would probably cause a surge in the production of "gangsta rap" as a form of protest against the proposal. Those racist, hateful lyrics will come back to haunt you should this proposal become law.

Ban Gangsta Rap

Are you crazy?

You obviously listened to our latest rapper Big Danny G and his famous track "All yo (expletive) can (expletive) off"

But that said Gangsta Rap like any form of music is free speech and we at WNA will support Free Speech to the hilt

Banning Rap would only give it more attention than it deserves. As much as I personally hate it, I found the best solution is to ignore it´s existence.

then you are invading the right that people have the right to listen to what ever music they want ...... ok that isnt a right then ban away

If you ban one type of music it sets the precedents to ban another, i don't like jazz.

How are you going to "ban" music? That's like saying you're going to make marijuana illegeal, and afterwords teens will stop smoking it. To me this looks like a way to persecute the people who listen to the music (just as drug laws were mostly to persecute the minorities who used drugs). I say celebrate diversity. Educate people, then let them make their own informed decisions.

I think bannig "ganster rap" is a good idea. It will get rid all these children acting like hoodlems! It sickens me to see children hanging out in gangs, doing drugs, and stealing when they could be doing better things.

I am in full support of the "Ban gangster rap act".

I don't think we should "enfringe upon the freedom of speach", however we can infringe upon the propogation of what any one might say, aside from them actually saying it. :D

i.e. the promotion, recording for public distribution or private use, electronic amplification, possesion or sale of songs, poems, or any verbally or scriptually originated transmition of ideas, thoughts or images that are officially deemed "detrimental to the public well being" is a violation of the law and therefor punishable by ( fill in the blank).

Neo-nazi music is illegal, why shouldn't gangster rap be illegal? Is there a difference between "kicking the mud races" and "killing homies for mah hoez"?

Don't get me wrong. Gangster rap will always exist, such as neonazi music will always exist. But it's all about promotion of the violence as an official way of life.

Personnaly, when I listen to Eminem in public radio, saying that he kills his "bitch", puts the corpse in the back of the car and then drives to then throws it into the water, I just want to ban stupid gangster rap music.

I see no harm in gangsta rap. Infact the Pope ( ) himself likes to listen to some DMX every now and then.

Freedom of speech ends where the freedom of others begins.

If I start rapping, whose freedom have I infringed upon? No one's. If I say that I like hitting people with hammers, whose freedom have I infringed upon? No one's. Hitting people with hammers is already illegal -- why illegalize talking about it?

It sickens me to see children hanging out in gangs, doing drugs, and stealing when they could be doing better things.

I don't see what that has to do with what is clearly an issue of free speech.

Personnaly, when I listen to Eminem in public radio, saying that he kills his "bitch", puts the corpse in the back of the car and then drives to then throws it into the water, I just want to ban stupid gangster rap music.

There's a beauty to electronic devices in that you can turn them off. You chose to listen to that song. You could choose to ignore it or avoid it if you don't like it. You could submit a proposal to ban "gangster rap" from radio. You could stay in your own nation and mind your own business with internal matters like this. I don't see any justification for this blatant violation of the rights of my people. Do you really want every one of the United Nations to be forced into sending its police after teenagers for music? That said, how do you even define "gangster rap?" Do the cops just listen and count how many times someone says the word "thug?"

What an idiodic proposal. Music doesn't lead to violence, but the other way around. These rappers write lyrics about violence because they grew up with violence (or their audience did). You are attacking the product, not the cause.

There is a difference. One is about crime, the other is about genocide. If you think that shooting someone is the same thing as sending millions to the gas chambers, you need to be beaten over the head repeatedly. Maybe it'll jump start some brain cells

Gangsta rap is phony and the fans are all bratty middle class white boyz.
This is a great proposal.
