You know what, reading your argument, now I think that banning alcohol would be great because it would decrease the number of car accidents, oh wait, we tried that already.

Now, replace old hicks with "young drugies", whiskey with "crack", and corn with "rat poison". That's the reality of the war on drugs.
I'd be up for prohabition

The person who wrote this of course has no sense or whatsoever about what he is talking about, but it makes sense. Drugs, most likely the person is refering to bad drugs. Why should the illegal drugs be allowed on the markerts?
1. More items to buy.
2. More items to buy, more customers.
3. More customers, more money.
4. More money, more opitions on how to spend that money.
5. Better economy.
6. Since illegal drugs are addictive, more and more will be bought producing more and more money, which is good.
Make it a proposal!

It wasnt just the "old hicks" who did it- everybody started making their own alcohol (during the real prohibition) and even the speaker of the house at the time had his own private still. Average citizens carried alcohol around with them, made their own, and visited speakeasies. Also, crime rates went up (smugglers and bootleggers), the mob became even more powerful, and lots of law "enforcers" got rich off bribes. By the late 1920s, there were more than 32000 illegal speakeasies in NYC alone, almost 2 times the amount of legal taverns there had been before prohibition. Finally, in 1933, the government realized that prohibition was basically a pretty crappy idea.

No, drugs should most definelty not be made legal.
All the War on Drugs accomplishes is to give free money to the cartels, mafia, eg., and spend billions of government funds on an annual basis to patrol, capture, investigate, try, and inprison these "dangerous" people.
Cigarettes killed over 400,000 people in the US in 2002, according to the CDC. Arrests? None.
In 2002, there were over 600,000 arrests for marijuana-related "crimes," over eighty percent of which were mere possession charges. That's a greater number than the population of quite a few cities. Deaths from marijuana? ZERO.
