At the surface this is a difficult, if not impossible, argument to disagree with. Of course land mines hurt civilians and make areas of land unusable - these are givens.
However, this proposal is absolutely worthless. We could take the argument a logical step further and submit a proposal that there be no more war. The bottom line is a war introduces terrible things into the world, particularly in the area(s) where the main battles are fought. How are mines more hazardous than spent chem/bio weapons, nuclear fallout, depleted uranium ammunition, bombs that didn't detonate on impact, etc?
Vote NO to the landmine proposal and get something meaningful on the table.
