If you're an animal, the only right you have is the right to be delicious.
05-12-2003, 13:40
How can you have animals voting?
05-12-2003, 13:41
I mean most animals can't even think for themselves!!!!

Voting will not do us much good right now.

jeez, St Lazare, you are the most vapid, empty-headed liberal I've seen in the whole forum!

I'm really hoping that you were joking, but here goes.

The average dolphin has an IQ of 10. The average retarded (I mean medically and legally "mentally handicapped") human has an IQ of 30-40. That makes the mentally handicapped 3 or 4 times smarter than the one of the smartest animal on earth, after humans and chimps. Chimps have an IQ of about 20. These animals get by on instict, not intelligence.

Do you really want the roaches and the flys deciding what your taxes are going to be? Most humans have a hard time understanding politics, and our average IQ is 100. Do you really expect the animals to get any of it?

Of course you don't. This is just a new way to stuff the ballot boxes, as people like you "help" the animals vote. People have been using that scam at retirement homes for years.

Maybe you should move to the Amazon, where you won't have to be around us "evil humans!" [warning: sarcasm alert!]

The President of Booyard speaks concerning animal democracy:

"The proposal to allow anomals to vote is a barmy idea. How are animals meant to vote? Where is the common sense in all of this?"
05-12-2003, 23:01
The mechanics of the voting process can be worked out later. What is important is that any animal who goes to its local polling place on election day be able to voice their preference and allowed to vote accordingly!

The point is that there is no sensible way of setting up a poll involving animals, so the proposal is just plain silly.
You could replace elections by a pair of dices with about the same effect as allowing animals to vote.

Scene from "CSPAN Zoogie" earlier today:

"Ah, skip that part."

" -- right, then. Our first issue to debate today is the suffrage of all animals in every nation in the United Nations, including but certainly not limited to, homo sapiens sapiens."

"What?" shout sixty voices in unison.

"You heard me...it says we should debate on animal voting rights!"

"What?" shout sixty voices in unison.

"Quick, think up something intelligent to say, guys, we're on TV!"

- We interrupt this broadcast due to the following reasons: We would like the citizens of The Zoogie People to have a much more positive opinion on their government, and please try to forget what just happened.

Heh, was this proposal honestly serious? First you'd have to teach the animals to read, and then ... never mind. Can you just imagine the campaign adds...candidates mooing and such.

Does this UN not issue warnings of unsuitable proposals??

I am surprised by the lack of an official warning in this situation.
Etanistan
06-12-2003, 02:09
The Most Serene Republic of Etanistan already extends voting rights to all vertebrates over the age of 5. There is pending legislation to expand these rights to invertebrates, however, since many invertebrates don't live more than five years this may be a problem. There has been talk of species-specific voting ages, which is currently in debate in the Parliment Subcommittee on Panspecies Democratic Informatics.

In any case, we remain in favor of this proposal and would gladly vote for it were Etanistan a Regional Delegate.

As am I. Honestly, people, think realistically.

1) Animals cannot talk in our language, and vice versa

2) Animals cannot understand our language, and for the most part, vice versa

3) Animals could not care less about politics

4) Animals cannot read

5) Animals are not citizens or counted in your population...why not hire animal CEOs or have a llama run for president?

I'm surprised that I would actually have to say that.
06-12-2003, 03:39
no animals should not have the right to vote the only way they should have the right to vote is if they became citizens if they were to become citizens in the red bat i would have to pass that law and i am not

Ah, yes, we humans are outnumbered. You know, insects would completely dominate the elections, and we will soon have multi-eyed flying presidents getting assasinated...yes, assasinated by frogs. (Flies, you never know)

Konania, I agree. How about

"NO"

and resolve this issue like that.
06-12-2003, 05:06
Sorry but there will be no democracy for any in my nation.
