I hope you step on a landmine sometime...
(DID NOT VOTE)
Shallow to to say the least. I bet you have absolutly no military knodwledge what so ever except for holliwood movies.

The concept of war is out dated! Ban landmines, and turn the other cheek!

Certainly he has no political knowledge as he has no idea what a liberal is according to the political spectrum. Wants something left wing, must be liberal... confuses what liberal is, must be American.
Waal Mart... War is by no means out dated... at least tell that to those in the Military, the Afgahns, and Iraqis if you really want to convince people... I'd think that they'd find your stupidity amusing to the point of breaking your neck.

Probably is American. "Liberal", in it's most litteral definition, means "one who seeks change", whereas the most litteral definition of "conservative" means "one who seeks to preserve the status quo". In American politics, these terms are applied to the left and right wings of the political spectrum. At one time, these were correct by definition. However, years of left-wing control of the nation have shifted these meanings until the terms are almost ironic.
They will remain as they are, however, for the same reason that all facial tissue is referred to by some as "Kleenex". They are terms that have taken on a different meaning through their use in the lexicon.
Just a little linguistic clarification.
You simpletons. 20% of American deaths in Vietnam were due to landmines. Do you not realize how useful and important such a weapon is? Landmines are almost a neccesity.
Landmine sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Hello, I am American and consider myself on the right-wing. I would like to say that you are absolutely correct. Landmines made up 20% of the American deaths in Vietnam (the war the French warned us not to enter)? SO WHY ARE THEY GOOD?! LANDMINES KILL PEOPLE! PEOPLE ARE STILL DYING OF LANDMINES IN EUROPE AND VIETNAM AND KOREA!! Landmines are evil!
Can anyone here spell blatently obvious?
In the words of the great American Lawman (ok, not so great) Bucky O'Neil:
"If war is an argument, the best way to win is to kill the other side."
And yes, all Americans are by definition politically liberal. We live in a democratic republic, ergo we are a liberal nation. However, within the spectrum of liberality, we have Liberals and Conservatives. This is because we were founded by all the liberals trying to get away from conservative Europe. Over two hundred years the minor differences have become less minor.
All the same, this is a pretty limited poll.
He left out "Because I already voted for it and need a really good reason so I don't kick myself in the arse." :D
First Blame... er. Citizen Matt
Land mines are good. They not only kill but safe people. If your escourting thousands out of a war torn territory, and the enemy is on your tail, what is gonna be there? A landmine will be set, apart from killing the enemy, it is slowing them down just in time for the others to make an escape. I just say, don't use them more than you have to.

One issue behind the landmine debate is that civilian populations rarely know the locations of minefields, and military officials cannot rely old maps with extremely dated information. We haven't accounted for all of the landmines remaining from past wars, so why plant more mines for future generations to deal with once our records become nearly useless?
maybe once a war ends, the government focuses on the removal of all land mines. The few unaccounted, let the people be taught on land mine safety.

Or the other leg.
God bless ignorant fools and the ridiculously biased "misguided opinion" polls they paste up. Anyway, if you get rid of land mines, then MY military-indurty complex can then carry out manufacturing newer, more effective area denial weapons which will provide me with better security and, a better cost to operate-maintain / to kill ratio. And really, curent, basic technology has allowed for the design and manufacture of devices far better then mines for the area denial tactics. So yes, keep the mines, and save me time, or ban them and let me develop better ways to deny my oponents land.
I got nothing against peace, any military force I field is defensive, border security and deterrants, war may be "profitable" for some, but after war your gonna suffer economic crap out. AND, You gotta be pretty head sick to favour dollars and cents over people and common sense.
Good night, and god bless you all.

A Rep of Komokom worried by the results of either choice in any such argument.
Oh yeah,
And I would rather be a stupid liberal then some loser who actually wrote up the ding ( BAD WORD ) dong poll above.
Up yours you ignorant, foolishlyagressive war freek, oh yeah, and I hope you get into a war with an equally slow witted nation who has a bigger gun, after all, its the only way you foools settle problems...
Walking off in disgust, a Rep of Komokom.

Loved the poll its so true, you people who are all so disgusted by this poll are complete idiots, think in a practical way for one moment please. Landmines are used to scare other nations from attacking each other... Landmines are used to prevent war. So by banning landmines your making more war possible as now there will be less things to deter nations from creating war.
 THANKYOU FOR HELPING MAKE THE WORLD A LESS SAFE PLACE! You've just helped something you tried to destroy, death and destruction, I sugest next time realise what exactly it is that you are voting for.
Vote: I am a stupid liberal.

I want to ban landmines because I want to stop innocent children having their legs blown off by a mine that was planted in a war that finished before they were born. If that makes me a stupid liberal then so be it.

By banning landmines, we stop the deaths of millions of people. War is sometimes a necessary thing, but landmines carry on a war that has ended. Missiles etc explode straight away in most cases but landmines can stay where they are for years after a war, posing huge threats to the natives of a country. By banning them, we will stop this threat and further protect the lives of the people of the world.
