A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.

Description: Definitions: Race-A group of characteristics, often used to divide Homo Sapiens Sapiens into several groups. Skin color is a major component of this, though not the only one.

Racism is still widespread.
Racism is generally agreed to be immoral.

Therefore, it is only reasonable to do something about it.

1. Race shall not be a factor in who a person is allowed to marry.

2. A person cannot be arrested, deported, or punished on the basis of race alone.

3. Racial segregation is not allowed.

I concur. I don't see anything wrong with this one, and really don't see how anyone could oppose it.

It seems to me that all of your proposals are already covered under the U.N. resolution "The Universal Bill of Rights" posted here for your perusal. I think Article 4 encompasses all of your resolution. International law is complicated enough, and we don't need to cover the same ground.

Article 2 -- All human beings have the right to express themselves through speech and through the media without any interference. Article 3 -- All human beings have the right to peacefully assemble. Article 4 -- All human beings have the right to be treated equally under the law of any member nation. Article 5 -- All human beings must not be subjected to torture or to cruel or inhuman treatment or punishment. By drawing borders between "races" you are creating racism.

The Nations of the Land of Free Aryan Peoples will not endorse this proposal. We see it as a threat to the well-being and general security of the 2.15 billion people of our region.

I agree with points 1 and 2, but point 3 becomes probelmatic...

"Race segregation is not allowed" is WAY too broad and easily abused. What if I have an all-white lab group for science class? What if my friends are all Hispanic? Isn't that race segregation? Isn't it my right to do that?

If you think that's absurd, if I own a house and I'm a racist, don't I have the right not to let black people into my house? I might be a jerk, but I'm still within my rights...

I would perfer something along the lines of, "The privileges and responsibilities of no citizen shall be expanded or abridged on account of race." That's more legalese and much less easily abused.

Description: Definitions: Racism - 1. The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others. 2. Discrimination or prejudice based on race. [Source: American Heritage Dictionary]

Racism is still widespread.
Racism is generally agreed to be immoral.
Racism has been scientifically disproven.

Therefore, it is only reasonable to do something about it.

However, these United Nations also acknowledge the importance of free association and property rights, and as such will only combat racism in a manner that does not interfere with human rights.

1. Race shall not be a factor in who a person is allowed to marry.

2. Racial discrimination is hereby abolished in all instutitions directly recieving public funding, and within the government itself.

3. No government shall expand or abridge the privileges and responsibilities of any citizen on account of race.

4. The burden of proving racism shall be to prove that less qualified people of one race were given precedence over more qualified people of another race by whatever qualifications used by an institution, and racial ratios and percentages shall not be used in establishing racism.

5. This resolution shall not be construed as to deny private individuals of the freedom of association on their own property and public property, nor abridge the freedom of speech, or of the press, or of thought.


I know it's more complex, but it's more equitable and less open to abuse.

"Discrimination based on race" is law by exception. By drawing the borders between "different races," they are discriminating them from each other. Not only that, it stereotypes into one group or another.

Discriminate simply means "To make a clear distinction; distinguish" according to dictionary.com

Everytime a black is born we usually send the babies into dumptrucks with pitchforks and sell them into slavery. Also, to ensure they don't out number us, we kill them often. I agree. Hence point 4 on my revised resolution which states that all individuals should be judged REGARDLESS and not IN LIGHT OF their race. I personally believe that all races are theoretically equal, but since real life doesn't work out that way due to random variation, we MUST make sure that anti-discrimination laws are really anti-discrimination laws that protect individuals, not pro-discrimination laws (such as affirmative action) that give unfair advantage to entire groups over others.

I guess I was unclear. My point is with ALL ELSE BEING EQUAL, if race is the only difference between two people, they should be treated equally by public instutitons.

We'll have to submit this proposal. We should fix as many problems as possible.

It doesn't have to be a mess. Just make the burden of proof for proving racism in public to be that with all else being equal, a person was treated substantially better or worse due to race beyond a reasonable doubt. Affirmative action is racist.

Violating the freedom of association to try to alleviate racism could be construed as racism, but I perfer to think of it as violating human rights in general, since the minorities' freedom of association is violated as well.

So the left-wing position on race can be summed up in the words of a Hispanic kid at my school: "I can't be racist; I'm not white."

Who says socialism has to use AA? If there is no racial discrimination left, it isn't even necessary.

"Race" implies competition. It is self-perpetuating.

Looks like I am posting this after the fact, but this proposal is inherently flawed, bigoted garbage.

Historically these sorts of laws:
1) Reinforce the idea that we are all so, so different.
2) Are applied very inconsistently.

Typical of the racist, big-brother-knows-best-for-all-peoples mindset.

It is not possible to prove a negative proposition.

Exactly, it creates tension and potential hostility among people.

That's like forcing everyone to be the same. People will resist it with all their might.
