Taxation limitations must be passed

My country is relatively new at these forums but we notice that the income tax in many countries is exceedingly high. Many are suffering from this rediculous turmoil. We have seen that a draft resolution has been proposed to the UN that would limit the tax rate set by nations on their people. We support this resolution unequivocally and wonder how it has not yet even garnered much support. We urge UN delegates to bring this to the table for voting. Anything over 50-60% taxation is far too high for any society.

Please forgive my ignorance, as I am relatively new to this whole scene, but one thing of which I am sure is that if you work hard all day for your money, you don't need the government reaching into your pocket for half (or more). The rub however, is that I'm not sure if setting a unilateral tax cap would be the ideologically correct thing to do, with countries that oppose the taxation also likely to loathe more international regulation of any sort (even in instances where they would probably be the beneficiary). I would have to read the actual wording of the measure to signal my approval or disapproval of said measure.

While I would agree that the tax rates of some nations are ridiculously high, it is not my issue to discuss. Countries pass taxation laws to regulate their budgets with respect to population. Smaller nations have smaller budgets, but also have fewer people. Therefore, taxes are higher in smaller nations. The opposite would be expected of large nations, but that is not the case. While a per capita tax base is greater for populous nations, the national expenditures are also high due to the amount of maintainance required for public facilities and the allocation of funds to various government institutions. A UN attempt to regulate the taxation limitations of its member nations would be a direct attack on the sovereignty of an individual nation to direct its internal affairs. Besides, the needs of one nation will and do differ from the needs of others. A tax cap would severely cripple nations who require a greater tax income to maintain economic and political stability.

There is a theory out there that kinda says that the government should take care of it's people. So how best to take care of it's people than to utilize there money for say, social welfare and thus improving their lives. Basicly it comes down to, if the government provides you with every necessity (food, water, shelter, healthcare) then do you really need 100% of your income?

I believe taxation is a matter for each state to decide upon. If you want to tax yourself to death, that's your problem.
